Last Day to vote for People's Choice Awards

There may not be a Twilight movie in the nominations for People's Choice Awards but there are plenty of nominees with ties to the Saga.

The most obvious of course if Robert Pattinson's nomination for Favorite Movie Actor. He's got some stiff competition, facing Hugh Jackman, Johnny Depp, Ryan Reynolds and Daniel Radcliffe.

Next, you have Taylor Lautner's nomination for Favorite Action Movie Star. This is a very stiff category and I hate to say it, but Taylor is definitely looking like a long shot here. While there is definitely a lot of action in the saga, the only true action movie that he's done so far is Abduction. Maybe a little premature to consider him an action movie star.

There are some Twi-related nominees in the music category this year. Of course, Bruno Mars was responsible for the first single of the Breaking Dawn part 1 soundtrack. He's nominated for both Favorite Male Artist and Favorite R&B Artist. Linkin Park was a part of the very first Twilight soundtrack. They are nominated for Favorite Band.

Peter Facinelli doesn't just play a doctor in the saga movies, he also plays one on television in Nurse Jackie. That show is nominated in Favorite Cable TV Comedy.

Water for Elephants is not only what got Rob nominated this year, it's also a contender in several other categories. Rob's WFE co-star Reese Witherspoon is nominated for Favorite Movie Actress. The movie itself is nominated for both Favorite Drama Movie and Favorite Book Adaptation. I'm a little worried about it winning on either category simply because it's up against The Help in both of them. That's another incredible movie.

Also worth noting, although only Twi-related when you consider that Rob was in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire...four of the five nominees for Favorite Movie Star Under 25 are from the HP movies. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton. Chloe Moretz is the only exception. Really strange to think this is the last year HP will be nominated!

If you haven't voted, or even if you have, go vote now! Polls close at midnight!

Bella's Wedding Dress causing a stir?

According to TMZ, girls are faking engagements in order to try on a replica of Bella's wedding dress from Breaking Dawn part 1 and it's causing issues for bridal shop owners. This picture is from their story...

Not to be snotty here, but let's get real. If you put the stand ups of Edward and Jacob in your store window, it's going to attract attention. I think their choice of display could be causing some of the issue. As far as "faking engagements" I doubt they're the first people to ever do that! lol
The replica dress by Alfred Angelo is available for $799 in sizes 0 to 30W. It's breath-taking, without question.
So...would you "fake" an engagement to try it on? That term just makes me lol. If it's causing issues for shops, I hate that, but let's look at how they're advertising and go from there, you know?

The Muppets take on Twilight

The Muppets have been using parodies as an advertising too for the new movie. First it was "Breaking Prawn" and now we have these posters!

I think WereRowlf is my favorite! LOL What do you think?

Someone Like You - the Jacob Black remix

So, 4tnz came out with this video a month ago, but I wouldn't post it because there is so much from Breaking Dawn part 1 in it and I know how many of you all didn't want to see anything before you took your seat in the theater. But, it is just too clever not to post!

Every time I hear Adele sing this now, I can't help but replace "out of the blue" with "out of the woods" ;)
Hope you enjoy it and hope you're getting to see Breaking Dawn part 1 this weekend.

A few tips for Breaking Dawn part 1

I am in NO WAY ready to write a review or even do a very good job of summarizing my thoughts about Breaking Dawn. I'm still a little shell-shocked. It was a very intense and emotional experience. Having said all that, I did throw together a few quick tips to keep in mind when you head out to see Breaking Dawn part 1.

1. I highly recommend that you go see this film yourself before you take a child with you. This is far different from the other movies just as the book is far different from the other books. The content is far more adult and intense. And no, I don't just mean the honeymoon scene. This is a whole different ball game and you really need to see it for yourself to make the judgement as to whether or not your child, pre-teen or young adult is ready for it.

2. Stay through the credits! There is an extra scene in the credits that foreshadows part 2. Apparently my group were the only ones aware of this and we had to keep telling everyone else so they wouldn't stand right in front of us while we were waiting. lol

3. Everyone who has ever been to a movie with me knows this is a biggie for me...Please remember that you are in a theater filled with other people who have spent their hard-earned money to see this movie. Be respectful of them and DO NOT talk during the movie!!!!! I cannot stress this one enough. I'm not saying don't laugh when it's funny, but I cannot understand why people pay for a movie ticket to have a conversation with each other when they could have done it in the hall for free! It's very distracting during a pivotal, emotional scene when everyone around you insists on talking.
*Also, just because you know the songs on the soundtrack, that doesn't mean we want to hear you sing them during the movie. No, it hasn't happened to me, but it has happened to someone I know.

4. Sit back and enjoy it. It's a roller coaster ride, but one of the most true to the books of the entire saga. There's only one more after this, folks.

And this one was added on my facebook list by my wonderful sister, Joy...she's extra wonderful because she is the one who introduced me to the books back in 2007 ;)

5. Plan your schedule for when you'll be seeing it in the theaters again.(and again).

I cannot agree more. I'm heading back to the theater this evening to see it again. Oh, and one more thing...the ending? Perfect, and exactly where I wanted it to be!

**UPDATE** Can't believe that I forgot to mention this one..
6. Bring your tissues!!!

I have now seen it three times and I'm completely amazed at the additional things I've noticed each time. Very impressed.

BD Book 3 Preface and Chapter 19. Burning

Surprised that we're going this far? Yeah, just trust me on this and don't ask questions.
Personal affection is a luxury you can have only after all your enemies are eliminated. Until then, everyone you love is a hostage, sapping your courage and corrupting your judgement.
Orson Scott Card
Empire
The preface shows a big change for Bella. She's not afraid any longer. Now, she's ready to fight.
  • Bella is bewildered by the pain and darkness
The morphine keeps Bella paralyzed while the venom burns; Bella wants to stay alive for Edward, Jacob and Renesmee; Bella burns but forces herself to remain silent to lessen Edward's anguish
  • After two days Bella's heart stops; she opens her eyes
It's kind of nice to be back in Bella's head again, even if she is in incredible pain. We get to see Renesmee's birth again, but through Bella's eyes this time. Amazing and chilling at the same time. Her drive to stay alive for the sake of not only Edward and Renesmee, but Jacob as well. Her choice to stay quiet in order to keep from causing Edward any further pain. So good to hear her side of the story once again.

This is another spot where the fact that Edward cannot read her mind works well for both of them. Can you imagine the torture Edward would have gone through being inside her head while she was changing?

And then...her eyes open...

BD Chapter 18. There Are No Words For This

This chapter may have the most perfect title of the entire series because it's just so true...

Key Plot Points from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  •  Bella is semiconscious; her body jerks and twitches, there is a wild thrashing in her body, and sharp snaps and cracks
Edward injects Bella with morphine; Rosalie uses a scalpel to cut Bella's skin; blood gushes out, and Rosalie's eyes glint with thirst; Jacob knocks Rosalie out the door, hitting her in the face and gut; Alice drags Rosalie away; Rosalie does not fight back
  • Jacob performs CPR
  • Edward uses his teeth to get to the baby; Jacob doesn't look away from Bell's face
Bella sees the baby, Renesmee, then gasps; Edward snatches the baby away
  • Jacob continues CPR as Bella's eyes roll back; her heart falters
Edward injects a syringe of his venom into Bella's heart; he bites her in more places to force venom into her body
  • Jacob sees there is no life in Bella -- she is a broken, bled-out corpse
Bella's dead body has no draw for Jacob now, so he leaves; Jacob gave everything to save Bella, but she sacrificed herself to be torn apart by a monster
  • Jacob hears Rosalie downstairs, cooing to the monster, feeding it blood
Pain and hatred wash through Jacob -- the thing must be destroyed; Jacob can feel the pull tugging him toward the abomination
  • Rosalie turns around and Jacob looks into the baby's eyes
Everything that made Jacob what he was floats away and the universe swirls around only one point: Renesmee
I am just completely blown away by this chapter and the thought of watching it on the big screen. The pain of everyone involved is so palpable, it's amazing.
All the king's horses and all the king's men...
But there was nothing there, just me, just him.
Working over a corpse.
Because that's all that was left of the girl we both loved. This broken, bled-out, mangled corpse. We couldn't put Bella together again

Then of course the turn that caught me COMPLETELY off guard the first time I read the book...Jacob's first look at Renesmee. Did anyone else see that one coming? Jacob imprints on Renesmee?!?!?!? But of course the story doesn't end there...
From upstairs, there was a new sound. The only sound that could touch me in this endless instant.
A frantic pounding, a racing beat . . .
A changing heart.

BD Chapter 17. What do I Look Like? The Wizard of Oz?

What do I Look Like? The Wizard of Oz? You Need a Brain? You Need a Heart? Go Ahead. Take Mine. Take Everything I Have.

Key Plot Points from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  • Jacob races away toward Seattle
Jacob hope he can imprint on someone so he won't hurt over Bella anymore; he compares everyone to Bella; he goes back to be with her
  • Edward tells Jacob they want to deliver the baby early -- tomorrow
  • Edward asks Jacob, the true Alpha, to grant him permission to save Bella
    In anguish, Jacob consents
  • Bella bends and there is a ripping sound followed by a shriek of pain
This chapter is absolutely heartbreaking as we watch Jacob try to force himself to find a relief from his pain by imprinting. Edward's gesture in giving him the car, the escape he needs, is quite gracious. But of course, Edward knows there is something he's going to have to ask Jacob for...permission to change Bella.

Jacob just has to keep giving and giving. He's losing Bella now. At this part in the story I was pretty darn convinced that Jacob was going to end up with Leah. She's become someone different away from the constant pain of Sam's presence.

BD Chapter 16. Too-Much-Information Alert

This chapter is being discussed by the wonderful Krista Richmond. Here you go!
So – things are getting serious. There is an almost ominous tone to this chapter that certainly foreshadows the next two to come. But that is balanced by what I think is one of the sweetest moments in the saga. Without further ado …

Key Plot Points from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  • Jacob’s Pack is still protecting the Cullen’s land
Jacob congratulates Leah on being less annoying than Paul; Leah thinks Jacob makes a good Alpha; Jacob teaches Leah how to better enjoy eating as a wolf
  • All the Cullens go hunting except Edward and Rosalie
  • Edward hears the baby’s thoughts: The baby is happy and adores Bella
Jacob now sees Bella and Edward as a happy little family; he feels alone and in pain
  • Edward hears Jacob’s pain and gives Jacob the car keys and tells him to get away
The juxtaposition of Jacob’s pain and Edward’s elation makes this – I think – one of the most interesting chapters in this book. There have, of course, been other instances of this stark contrast – the end of Eclipse, for example – but what makes this different is the permanence of the situation. Bella is having a child (very soon) with Edward, and Jacob finally understands that not going to change her mind to be with him. Yes, she’s chosen Edward over Jacob at several points throughout the saga, but now there is another – very tiny – person involved. Jacob sees that their family bond cannot be broken. Amber can attest that I am most definitely Team Edward, but I can’t help but feel for Jacob here. The writing is very obviously on the wall for him, and it always hurts when you’re the one not chosen. And kudos to Edward for recognizing that and offering him an out. They’ve developed such a strange sort of truce during Bella's pregnancy, and it’s nice to see Edward have some compassion for Jacob’s situation.

Bonding itself seems to be an important theme in this chapter. Two important bonds are formed that will shape the rest of the story. First, Jacob and Leah come to an understanding and even compliment each other. It’s also interesting that one of the most graphic descriptions of “hunting” doesn’t involve vampires, but rather wolves. I think Jacob truly accepts his role as a leader when he helps Leah get through her meal.

But perhaps the most significant bonding in this chapter is between daddy and (soon-to-be) daughter. This is one of the scenes I’m looking forward to most in the movie – Edward’s awestruck fascination when he “hears” his child. He now (finally) starts to see their child as a blessing rather than a curse, and his cautious optimism makes me smile.

This chapter does a good job of setting up what’s to come. What do you think?

BD Chapter 15. Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock

Key Plot Points from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  • Bella and Charlie talk on the phone; neither Edward nor Jacob condones this
  • Bella asks for Jacob; her face lights up again when she sees him
Jacob sits next to Bella to keep her warm; Rosalie brings Jacob food in a dog dish
  • Bella says Carlisle thinks the baby will be born within four days
Jacob feels his ties to Bella get even stronger; Bella thinks that Jacob is supposed to be in her life, but not like this -- like they got off track somehow
  • Edward tells Jacob about old myths that say vampire babies chew their way out of the womb
This chapter has the absolute best scene between Rosalie and Jacob of the entire series...the dog bowl. And of course when he "returns" it, he gets food in her hair. (Unfortunately it doesn't sound like this scene made the final cut of the film...consider me officially bummed.)

Bella's conversation with Jacob about them getting off track is really interesting. It's one of those things. In a world that didn't include Edward, Bella and Jacob would have been meant for each other. They've talked about it before. The interesting thing here is Bella saying that she did something wrong and got them off track.

Interesting that this is the first time they've really talked about how the baby is going to get out. Maybe it's just the first time they considered Bella living long enough to get to that point. And of course, you can't help but wonder if Rosalie is giving any concern to Bella or if it is all about the baby.

Twilight Handprint ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theatre

Anything I say here is probably going to come off sounding cheesy, but this really was a fabulous moment to watch and I'm so proud of Robert, Kristen, Taylor and all that Twilight is. To receive this honor at their ages is just unheard of and I hope that they find future successes in abundance to back this up. Never mind me, as we move toward winding down the series, I get a little sentimental.

And TONS of pics! HQ and Fan Pics at ToR

BD Chapter 14. You Know Things Are Bad When You Feel Guilty for Being Rude to Vampires

Key Plot Points from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  • Bella is better; her whole face lights up when she sees Jacob
  • Jacob starts taunting Rosalie with blonde jokes
  • The fetus breaks one of Bella's ribs
  • Alice gets headaches around Bella; she feels better near Jacob
  • The Cullens give food and clothes to the now homeless wolves; Jacob and Seth accept, but Leah doesn't
It's interesting that both Jacob and Edward are disturbed by Bella's reaction to seeing Jacob. Bella may have chosen Edward but it's incredibly obvious that she still has a strong connection to Jacob.

The blood has worked to make Bella stronger but that means the "fetus" is stronger too, now breaking Bella's rib.

This is the chapter where the digs really get started between Jacob and Rosalie. That's definitely one of the highlights of Breaking Dawn.

Seth is obviously comfortable with the Cullens, maybe a little more comfortable than Jacob would like. He gladly accepts the Cullens' offers of food and clothing. It's a little frustrating that Leah isn't willing to give when the Cullens are being so understanding and appreciative of the sacrifices that the wolf pack has made to defend them.

BD Chapter 13. Good Thing I've Got a Strong Stomach

Key Plot Points from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  • Jacob stays with Bella -- he doesn't want to miss the last few minutes of her life
Jacob feels that his presence helps Bella
  • Bella drinks a cup of blood; it tastes good, and she immediately feels stronger
  • Jacob is called to a meeting with some of Sam's pack; the want Jacob, Seth, and Leah to rejoin them, but all three say no; Jacob thinks the Alpha bond is permanent
One of my favorite parts of this chapter is the banter between Jacob and Edward that no one else is privy too because it's simply Edward listening to Jacob's thoughts and reacting. Jacob's right, for everyone but Bella he could be an absolute nightmare to live with. I can't imagine someone being aware of my every thought. Scary.

Jacob uses all of his strength to be there with Bella because he thinks her time may be limited to only minutes. Although it wasn't his intention to come up with a treatment for her, he isn't willing to jeopardize any effort that could help. Bella appreciates him being there although it has to be hard for her to drink her cup of blood in front of him.

And then there's the meeting with the members of Sam's pack. Leah certainly has Sam figured out and Jacob is amazed by how alike they are all thinking. Whether he wants it or not, Jacob is definitely the Alpha of his own pack now.

Was anyone else slightly surprised by this new turn for Bella? Not only was she able to drink the blood but she actually enjoyed it and wanted more.

BD Chapter 12. Some People Just Don't Grasp the Concept of "Unwelcome"

Poor Jacob just can't get by without more changes coming at him every single chapter! This time around, the pack he didn't even want to start is growing with the addition Leah. With the exception of maybe Paul, Leah is his least favorite wolf.

Key plot points from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  • Leah also breaks from the pack and joins Jacob
Leah is irritating; Jacob doesn't want to lead a pack; Leah wants to be free of Sam
  • Carlisle and Jacob talk; Carlisle is frustrated because he can't figure out what the fetus wants; Jacob has a thought about blood, and Edward hears the thought and shares it with the others; Bella agrees to give blood a try
It's completely understandable how Leah would make the choice to join up with Jacob. She gets to stay with her brother and keep an eye on him while escaping from the pain she has to endure as a part of Sam's pack. She feels unwanted by the very person she loved more than anyone else. That is a special kind of pain. She's constantly subjected to Sam's guilt when he sees her. She's dealing with both his pain and hers.

It's also highly understandable that Jacob doesn't want to lead a pack. He didn't go off on his own because he wanted to be the Alpha. He was just able to use his birthright to break from the pack in order to take control of the situation and protect Bella. The addition of Seth and Leah forces him to become an Alpha in daily practice. That's not something he was ready for.

The shared concern of Bella is causing Jacob to form a reluctant bond with Carlisle and Edward. They understood the sacrifices he's made to be there and appreciate that. They all want Bella safe more than anything. Jacob isn't letting that stop his less than positive thoughts about the situation which turns out to be the inspiration for Edward's newest idea to help Bella.

BD Chapter 11. The Two Things at the Very Top of My Things-I-Never-Want-To-Do List

Told you there were still bigger changes ahead for Jacob.

Key Plot Points fromThe Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  • Jacob struggles against Sam's order to obey
Jacob is the true Alpha -- he was not born to kneel to Sam
  • Jacob breaks from the pack; he will stand between the pack and the Cullens
  • Jacob leaves to warn the Cullens
Seth breaks from the pack and joins Jacob; they patrol the Cullens' land
  • Bella's condition worsens
So now he's struck out on his own with Seth following, all to protect Bella and the Cullens. Edward doesn't take lightly the sacrifice that Jacob has made. The situation is definitely tenuous.

BD Chapter 10. Why Didn't I Just Walk Away? Oh Right, Because I'm an Idiot.

Jacob's still reeling from his conversation with Edward, but it's time to face Bella now.

Key Plot Points from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  • Jacob and Bella speak privately
Bella believes Jacob will imprint on someone and everything will make sense; Bella doesn't expect to survive as a human; Bella understands what Edward has sent Jacob to offer, and won't consider it; Jacob feels an addiction to be with Bella, but he wants to leave
  • The pack decides the risk of this new creature is too great -- they will attack the Cullens
Sam plans their strategy and uses the Alpha voice to ensure obedience
Things really change for Jacob in this chapter. He goes from being ready to take on the Cullens by himself last chapter to defending them. He's still angry at Sam, but this time for the opposite reason. This chapter has some fabulous quotes. Promise I'm going to be doing something with quotes soon. If you have favorites, let me know.

Since near the end of Eclipse, there has been little casual conversation between Jacob and Bella.  If they're talking, it's a heavy thing. Their conversation in Jacob's room after they battled the newborns, their dance at the wedding and now this. Jacob knows that Bella isn't going to listen to him, but he tries anyway. He tries because as much as he wishes he didn't, he still loves her.

There's another change for Jacob in this chapter. He realizes, or at least admits to himself for the first time, that Bella becoming a vampire isn't his greatest fear. Her death would be so much worse. I really feel for him here because, and this time at Edward's urging, he offers himself up and faces Bella's rejection again.
He's given the pack intelligence information without meaning to. They're using the way he saw the Cullen set up to figure out how to attack. Who will be guarding Bella, who will be most vulnerable. Just another instance of the incredible inconvenience of the pack mind for Jacob. If you've read this before, you know this is a pivotal chapter for Jacob and is just going to lead him in to even more changes.

He really does have the best chapter titles, don't you think?

Breaking Dawn Honeymoon Clip

Access Hollywood has a new clip from Breaking Dawn Part 1 and it's part of the honeymoon. Not gonna lie, didn't watch it myself and I have hidden it after the jump.

BD Chapter 9. Sure as Hell Didn't See That One Coming

This is easily and without a doubt one of my favorite chapters in the entire series. It's right up there with the meadow scene. This is the first time we see Edward though the eyes of someone other than Bella. And the Edward we see here, the burning man, that's just beyond words.

Key Plot Points from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  • Jacob decides to kill Edward on his own
Carlisle meets Jacob at the door, and Bella calls to Jacob from inside; Jacob sees Edward, who looks like he's in agony, half-crazed; Bella is still human but looks sick and haggard -- she is pregnant
  • Edward takes Jacob outside to talk
Edward looks like a man being burned at the stake; he knows it's all his fault; he had no idea this could happen; Rosalie is protecting Bella; Edward asks Jacob to talk to Bella, to tell her she can have a baby with him; Jacob knows Bella will reject him; Edward promises Jacob that the moment Bella's heart stops beating, he will be Jacob to kill him; Jacob tells him they have a deal
Jacob thinks he has his plan all worked out, he's going to take out Edward and any of the other Cullens that stand in his way or happen to try to avenge Edward. But Bella being human throws him off. Then he realizes what is happening to her, and he's more than ready to proceed with his plan. It was Jacob's thought, "I always knew he would kill her," that drove Edward to react.
Jacob gains a new understanding for Edward, if not respect. He sees the amount of pain that he is in and realizes that he isn't even capable of wrapping his head around that type of agony. Edward is begging for his help, willing to make whatever deal he has to in order to keep Bella alive, even if that means letting her have "puppies" with Jacob. For once, he and Jacob can agree on something. They both see the baby that she is carrying as a life-sucking monster and they want it out of her before it can hurt her further.

They reach a deal. If Jacob isn't able to convince Bella to end this in order to save herself, Edward wants Jacob to end things for him.
The moment Bella's heart stops beating, I will be begging for you to kill me.
Was this chapter at all what you were expecting here? It fills in the gaps as to what has been happening with the Cullens since Edward and Bella left Isle Esme. It presents Edward more broken than we've seen him since he thought Bella was dead in New Moon. Edward understands Rosalie's motivation here and it infuriates him. She's not worried about Bella, she's all about protecting this baby because she could never have a child of her own.

This is the first time since the tent scene that there has been this kind of in-depth conversation between Jacob and Edward. They've formed an uncomfortable alliance, even if one of the possible outcomes is Jacob taking Edward's life for him.

Really, really want to hear your thoughts on this one. I know you're reading these discussion posts, please share what's on your mind!

BD Book 2 Preface & Chapter 8. Waiting for the Damn Fight to Start Already

The quote at the beginning of Book Two is from A Midsummer Night's Dream and is quite fitting...
And yet, to say the truth, reason and love keep little company together nowadays.
Preface - Jacob's point of view

Life sucks, and then you die.
Yeah, I should be so lucky.
Key Plot Point from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  • Paul has imprinted on Jacob's sister Rachel, and no one is pleased; Paul is annoying everyone
  • Jacob is waiting to hear about Bella
Jacob spends an afternoon with Quil and Claire
  • Sam calls a meeting of the pack; Edward and Bella have returned
Jacob feels the treaty has been broken and the wolves should attack; Sam declares that the Cullens are not a danger
When it comes to Jacob and Paul the tides have turned. Now Paul is the mellow one and Jacob is the one with rage issues, raring to fight. He's definitely concerned about how many of the pack are imprinting, it's up to four out of the ten now. That's certainly more than just a rare occurrence.  Also, this part makes you think about the other wolves in the pack with families that don't know what they are and what is going on. I can't imagine what that would be like for a mother to have to deal with. There should have been a clause in there about parental notification, right?

Jacob is waiting to hear that Bella is gone. I find it interesting that while he is trying to figure out how the story will go, he thinks that she could lose her life in Edward's quest for his own pleasure. He mentions knowing Edward, but after their time in the tent, you'd think he'd realize there is nothing in the world that Edward would put before Bella's life, most especially his own pleasure. Never entered his mind that Bella was the one pushing for the "real" honeymoon.

Since we know where the book is heading, this little afternoon with Quil and Claire makes sense. We need to see this. The conversation between Quil and Jacob is poignant. Jacob needs to move on, but he hasn't found a way to do that yet. As he takes off in response to Sam's call, we see the beginnings of his unrest as a part of the pack. He doesn't like taking orders and not being able to call the shots. This chapter also shows the tension between Jacob and Leah.

Bella and Edward are home, but they're not just now getting there. They've been there for a while and they've told Charlie that Bella picked up a disease in South America and must be quarantined. Sam's decided whether this means that she's already been changed or not, the spirit of the treaty stands and the pack will not attack. Jacob shifts back to his human form so no one else can hear his decision to act alone.

Were you surprised by Sam's decision? Jacob's willingness to take on the Cullens on his own? I loved that he was asked just what he planned to do if Bella fought with them.

Instead of giving you the Twilight Lexicon chapter summary link in each discussion post, I'm going to go back and add them to the schedule post. Just makes it a tiny bit quicker for me.

I hope you're enjoying these discussions. We should be completely back on track very soon.

BD Chapter 7. Unexpected

Absolutely perfect chapter title, right? The Twilight Lexicon summary is here. Again, let's jump right in to the plot points from ;The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide.
  • Bella awakes from another dream about the Volturi and the child
Edward has gone hunting; Bella fixes herself fried chicken but it tastes wrong so she throws it out
  • When Edward gets home Bella starts throwing up; the pieces fall into place; she realizes she must be pregnant
  • Bella touches her stomach and feels a little nudge; Edward is stunned
  • Alice calls; Bella talks to Carlisle, tells him her theory/ he asks some medical questions and agrees she is pregnant
  • Edward starts making travel arrangements while hurriedly packing; Bella doesn't understand why Edward seems furious
  • Bella feels another nudge; she is surprised at how much she already loves her little nudger
  • Edward tells her not to be afraid, that he won't let that "thing" hurt her
  • Bella sneaks a phone call to Rosalie to ask for help
That is a fairly accurate wrap up of the chapter this time around. Bella's pregnancy was one of those things that caused fan divide when Breaking Dawn first came out back in 2008. There had been a lot of discussion with Stephenie Meyer about whether or not vampires could reproduce but she very carefully handled those questions and only ever really addressed whether or not a female vampire could have a child. It was definitely a surprise, but not an unwelcome one for me personally and I was glad to see Edward and Bella on the way to being parents.

Edward's reaction was surprising, this is something that he wanted Bella to be able to have. However, Edward was very much aware of what it meant to be a vampire and knew right away Bella wasn't carrying a normal baby. He was right to be concerned, but it would have been nice for him to actually discuss the situation with Bella before coming up with a plan.

Most mothers can probably relate to Bella's emotions upon felling her baby move and can understand how that drove her to do something she never imagined doing, asking Rosalie for help.

What was your reaction to this chapter? Were you surprised, happy, disappointed with this particular plot twist? Did the dreams of the green-eyed baby boy foreshadow this for you?

BD Chapter 6. Distractions

You can check out the Twilight Lexicon summary here. I’m just going to jump right into this one and discuss…

  • Edward keeps Bella busy with snorkeling, hiking, swimming, exploring, and sunsets;
Bella tries to seduce Edward with lingerie, bribes and compromises
  • Bella has nightmares about the Volturi and a vampire child, and wakes up crying
Bella wants Edward so much she pleads with him, kisses him; they make love; Edward and Bella are both happy in the morning; Bella gets woozy; the Brazilian cleaning people come; the native woman suspects what Edward is and she is frightened for Bella
I cannot agree with all the plot points here. First of all, Bella wasn’t dreaming of a vampire child this time.
“He wasn’t the same boy as that first dream…This boy I’d dreamed of four times in the last week was definitely human; his cheeks were flushed and his wide eyes were a soft green.”
She was still worried about the Volturi coming for him, but not because he was a vampire or an immortal child.

Secondly, she wasn’t dreaming about the little boy when she woke up crying. She wasn’t having a nightmare. She was having a good dream. She was dreaming that she and Edward were together and she cried because she woke up and realized that the dream wasn’t real. In her dream, she had the things that Edward had been denying her.

Thirdly, there is no mention of the headboard or Bella’s decision to remain human for a little while longer and go to Dartmouth. I’ll admit, the headboard isn’t a really a plot point, but come on, right? I also think it’s important to note that she really had everything that she wanted. She was with Edward now and going to be with him forever. Spending a little more time human didn’t matter as much now that she knew she had eternity spread out in front of her.
“Now that I’d discovered exactly how good being human could be, it was tempting to let my plans drift. Eighteen or nineteen, nineteen or twenty…Did it really matter? I wouldn’t change so much in a year.  And being human with Edward…The choice got trickier every day.”
I don’t think I ever really paid attention to the fact that Edward talked about the Libishomen before, a blood-drinking demon who preys exclusively on beautiful women. I knew that the woman had suspicions about what he was and worried about Bella, but I’d forgotten about this particular legend. Plays in well later on in the book, no?

So we end this chapter with everyone getting what they want. Edward is no longer afraid to be intimate with Bella. He’s convinced that he can do so without hurting her now. Bella has decided to remain human for a little longer. This should be setting us up for the happily ever after, right?

Am I the only one thinking that Isle Esme sounds like absolute paradise even without Edward there?

Just one more chapter of Bella’s book left and then we’re on to Jacob.

Sorry for the delay...

I apologize for the delay in book discussion posts going up as scheduled. I'm running the blog on my own for the most part these days and I've not been feeling very well. I should be able to get all caught up and back on schedule no later than tomorrow...so you'll be getting an extra post! Always a silver lining, right?

Don't forget, if you'd like to help out with the discussion just email me or send me a message on twitter! Counting down the days...

BD Chapter 5. Isle Esme

So now...we've had the wedding, the reception...something else important must be coming up, right? Oh yes...the honeymoon. The infamous Isle Esme...where feathers will fly.

Key Plot Points from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide
  • Bella and Edward leave for their honeymoon; they take a plane to Houston, a second one to Rio de Janeiro, and then a boat to Isle Esme
  • Edward carries Bella cross the threshold; he goes for a midnight swim, waits for Bella in the water
Bella takes a shower to calm down
  • Edward is afraid of hurting Bella
  • In the morning, Bella wakes to a feeling of pure happiness
Edward is angry at himself -- he points out the bruises all over Bella's body; he berates himself for
hurting Bella; she tries to convince him that she is fine, she is happy
  • Edward gets up to fix breakfast for Bella, and she asks him if he plans to avoid touching her for the rest of the honeymoon
That's Isle Esme in a nutshell but totally skips over all the fun parts. Until I reread the chapter for this discussion, I'd forgotten that the headboard didn't fall victim the same night as Esme's feather pillows. I wonder if that will be combined in the movie. (btw-when I "wonder" about things in the movie, I am NOT asking for anyone that knows the answers to tell me. I made that mistake with New Moon and had a scene I was highly anticipating ruined for me. So, speculate right along with me, but don't flat out tell me if you know.)

What was your reaction to the their honeymoon destination? The famous fade to black? Bella's body the morning after? Edward's reaction? I'd say for a vampire/human love affair, she fared pretty well. I can understand Edward's side, but I'm with Bella, it would have been convenient if he could have read her mind just this once.

BD Chapter 4. Gesture

From the wedding to the reception. Bella meets Tanya and the rest of the Denali coven and is put at ease by Edward's obvious glee to be her husband. She greets Seth and Sue Clearwater and notes a lifting in Billy Black's mood. She dances with Edward, her father and other friends and family before a special guest arrives.

Chapter summary from Twilight Lexicon is here and I'm going to go ahead and share from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide at this point...

Key Plot Points
  • The reception is in the backyard, at twilight
Edward and Bella greet their guests
  • Jacob steps out from the woods;
Edward leaves so he and Bella can talk alone
  • Jacob is horrified to hear that Bella is planning a “real” honeymoon before she becomes a vampire; he grabs Bella and shakes her
Edward is instantly there; Jacob is ready to kill him; Seth and two wolves shove Jacob back into the woods
  • Bella composes herself and they go back to the reception
  • Bella says a tearful, loving goodbye to Renee and Charlie
To me, there is another key plot point here not mentioned. The conversation between Bella and Jacob before he finds out about her “real honeymoon” plans is important. He’s using all his strength and self-control to be there for her. He wants to make this about making her day as special for her as possible. This was his gift to her. It was selfless on his part. (I know I’m going to catch flack from some of you for saying anything Jacob does is “selfless”)

His concern about what’s going to happen to her is completely understandable. He might not want Bella to be a vampire, but he doesn’t want her dead before that can even happen. There is still a strong bond there, on both sides. It’s evident by her relief in his appearance and her reaction to his reaction. Edward making Bella look at her reflection…sigh. I hope we get to see that scene in the movie.

At the end of the chapter they are embarking on the rest of their lives, their future together. Bella is leaving her human family and friends behind, and one particularly heartbroken werewolf. She believes she’ll never see any of them again. What did you think of the reception? What about Jacob’s appearance and his reaction? Was it for Bella, or was it all about him?

BD Chapter 3. Big Day

The chapter we've been waiting for since the beginning of Twilight...the wedding. I'll start this one off by giving you the key plot points.
  • The wedding day has arrived
  • Bella is nervous; Edward is keeping the honeymoon destination a secret; Alice and Rosalie work all day on Bella's makeup and hair; Charlie and Renee give Bella a set of silver hair combs; Charlie escorts Bella down the stairs
  • As soon as Bella sees Edward at the altar, all her fears are gone
That's almost more of a chapter summary than just a list of the key plot points here. You can find a complete summary at Twilight Lexicon

Of course this chapter is one of the most anticipated in the movie. Bella started the day just like she has so many others, cleaning the house and making breakfast for Charlie. She's hanging on to the remnants of her old life as long as she can because she knows the changes in store for her go far beyond those that most new brides face. She's soon whisked away by Alice to start the preparations for her big day. She's understandably shocked by Rosalie's offer to assist.

Bella's also still a bit surprised by Renee's reaction to the whole thing. Aren't we all? Just before she goes down the aisle, Renee and Charlie present Bella with the heirloom combs for her hair. Her something old and something blue, her dress is new, and Alice loans her a garter. Then of course, it's time for the wedding. After begging Charlie not to let her fall, Bella proceeds down the aisle to her Edward.
Charlie took my hand and, in a symbol as old as the world, placed it in Edward's. I touched the cool miracle of his skin, and I was home.
Their vows are exchanged and they are now officially husband and wife.

The plot points and the drawing of Bella's dress are from The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide

BD Chapter 2. Long Night

Ah yes, the night of Edward's bachelor party! Of course first there is the makeout session, practice, as Bella calls it. Edward's not happy about the sacrifices that Bella is making, but she's more than willing. I love the interaction here with Emmett, Edward and Jasper. And of course, Jasper's explanation of their bachelor party plans when Bella asks if they're headed to a strip club.
"Just a few mountain lions, a couple of grizzly bears. Pretty much an ordinary night out."
Then Bella is alone and has to think about what she's facing the next day. Among her fears, Tanya and the Denali coven. I don't know a single woman out there who wouldn't be interested to meet the girl who tried and was shot down. She's got to be thinking that Tanya's going to wonder what in the world Bella has that made him choose her.
Her thoughts of Tanya lead her to recount the story of the "mother" of the Denali coven and why she is no longer with them. She created an immortal child. You factor in that Edward and Bella were just talking about the fact that choosing to be a vampire and his wife meant no children for her and it's not surprising that a child would star in her dream that night.
bellas nightmare
twilight bella vampire pictures

What do you think about Bella's choice to give up her chance of being a mother in order to be with Edward? What do you think about her nightmare?

Here are the key plot points from this chapter according to the The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide

  • The night before their wedding, Edward worries about all that Bella is giving up
  • Bella is worried about tripping in her wedding gown, and about meeting Tanya and the Denali clan; Carlisle explains the the Denaliss' mother was destroyed by the Volturi for creating an immortal child

I'm very surprised that the nightmare wasn't included as a key plot point here. It certainly stays with Bella.
You can find the Twilight Lexicon chapter summary here. (Love that it starts with "Edward, shirtless" lol)

BD Preface and Chapter 1. Engaged

I'll give myself up right from the beginning. I'm going to offer you the link to Twilight Lexicon's chapter summaries for all of these. They're fabulous, but do contain information from later chapters so I don't recommend them if you haven't read ahead. I would imagine that most of you have read the book by now, but you never know and I'm glad you're here all the same!
In The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide we have been given a list of key plot points for every chapter and I'm going to be using those as well.

Preface
Bella foreshadows her death, but this time, she's being killed by someone that she loves. First time reading, I definitely thought she was talking about Edward here. What about you?

Chapter 1. Engaged
This chapter is about Bella processing where she is right now, what's really going on with her. The ring that she feels like is a pulsing neon sign. She's always been about avoiding attention and being engaged to a Cullen makes that pretty impossible. Even her "before" car has total strangers stopping to take pictures at the gas station!

Key plot points

  • Bella feels conspicuous in her "before" car
  • Bella sees HAVE YOU SEEN THIS BOY posters for Jacob, who is still missing
  • Bella recalls breaking the news of her engagement to Charlie and Renee

The scene that plays out when Bella and Edward break the news to Charlie is classic and very much in character. His laughter at the thought of Bella having to break the news to her mother is fabulous. I have to say though, Renee's reaction just seems a little too easy. I mean, in Eclipse she was so concerned about how Bella and Edward interacted and now she's suddenly fine with them marrying? I'm not quite buying that one. Like Charlie, I'm a little disappointed.

What are your thoughts so far? Also wondering, when did you first read Breaking Dawn?

Breaking Dawn Book Discussion Schedule

Believe it or not, we are now less than 6 weeks away from Breaking Dawn on the big screen so this is not going to be a long, drawn out process and maybe not even very ind-depth, but it will be a good refresher course before we head out to theaters. I'm only going to cover the first two books since we're fairly sure that's where part 1 is going to end. That's a total of 18 chapters and 360 pages. There will be a new post every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Here is what you have to look forward to...

Just email me or drop me a line on twitter. I'd certainly love the help! Check back later today for the first post.

Breaking Dawn book discussion

It's hard to believe that we're only 7 weeks away from Breaking Dawn arriving in theaters! To celebrate and get us all prepared, I'll be posting a book discussion starting on Monday. It's going to be a quick one to get through to where we all suspect part 1 will end, but it should serve as a bit of a refresher course and help to get us all warmed up. Check back this weekend for the schedule and we'll get the ball rolling on Monday!

*Internet issues have slowed down the process...will post schedule and first discussion post asap.

Vampire Diaries Season Premiere - Quotes of the Night

As many of you know, I've been writing a Vampire Diaries column for the last two years. I know a lot of you are fans of the show as well so I'm going to start featuring some of my content here from time to time. One of my favorite things from Vampire Diaries is always the quotes, so here are a few of my favorites from the season premiere which aired last Thursday.

"You should learn to knock. What if I was...indecent?" - Damon

"It's his signature. There's a reason they call him the ripper. He feeds so hard he blacks out, rips 'em apart, but then, when he's done, he feels remorse. It's the damnedest thing, he puts the bodies back together." - Damon

"It’s your party, you can cry if you want to." - Damon

'No, you stop, Elena. Stop looking for him. Stop waiting for him to come home. Just stop! Stefan is gone and he’s not coming back. Not in your lifetime." -Damon

"Stefan? Stefan if this is you, you’ll be okay. I love you, Stefan. Hold on to that. Never let that go."  - Stefan

You can read my full recap here and watch the episode for free here. You can also follow my Vampire Diaries Examiner twitter account here!

2nd trailer released

I'll be honest...I don't like this one. I feel like it pretty much leads you through all the plot points of the movie and goes WAY farther at the end than I wanted to see in the trailer. This is why I wasn't watching this stuff for the last two movies. Think I'll have to go back to that status for the final installment. What are your thoughts?

New video from Sam Bradley

What brings about a post after 3 and a half months of nothing? A new video from Sam, of course! Here's a note from the man himself...
Hello Everyone!

A huge thank you to everyone that came out to support myself and Holly Conlan on the 'The Minor Tour'. It was amazing, and was great to meet so many of you.

I recently had a chance to film a video for 'Woman You Crazy', and have set up a little contest.

All you have to do is head over to my YouTube channel, watch the video and share with your friends. If there are 2,500 views of the video in the first two days, I'll take 10% off all merchandise on my website for a full 24 hours.
Sad to say that I missed seeing him on tour this time. Bought my tickets, but ended up passing them on to someone else as I wasn't able to make it down to Nashville. Let's show Sam the love and help him rack up views on this video, which he directed. I also happen to just LOVE this song!

Water for Elephants goodies!

We're getting so much closer every day! Yesterday brought an interview with Rob on Ryan Seacrest to promote the movie. Then a tv spot debuted during American Idol last night and the new trailer! That's a lost of wonderfulness for one day!

I cannot wait for this movie! This is one of my favorite books/authors and I cannot wait to see it brought to life. Add to that the fact that it stars Robert Pattinson, Reese Witherspoon, Christoph Waltz and Hal Holbrook and I'm done for!

The American Idol spot...

The new trailer...

In case you haven't watched it, the first trailer...

If you haven't read this book yet, RUN, do not walk, and get yourself a copy. It truly is one of the best books I've ever read. I currently own 2 copies (1 is signed) and plan to pick up the movie tie-in cover. Yes, I love this book that much.

Overlook my totally overexcited look...but this is still one of my most treasured pics!
Thanks to Water for Elephants Film for doing such an awesome job of covering all things WFE. You can find any info you need on their site and they even got to meet Tai, the elephant who plays Rosie! (Yes, I'm jealous) You can also find fantastic WFE wallpapers, widgets and more on their site. I highly recommend it. Follow them on twitter @H2OforElephants. They're doing giveaways every week until the movie releases!
