Vampire Physiology

I have to admit, I've been dying (pun intended) to talk to somebody about this. Stephenie Meyer created our special sparkly vamps and we all fell in love with them, but the curious minds don't stop inquiring - HOW DO THEY FUNCTION?!!
Remember the first relatively revealing conversation between Bella and Edward in the Forks High cafeteria? When she dared him to eat a piece of pizza? Am I imagining things, or did Midnight Sun version of the same even revealed that Edward was planning to cough up the staple of cafeteria food later on? Now, I kinda see that happening, but the question remains, what would happen if the vampire got to swallow human food?...
So, here's a long list of things I've been thinking about. First and foremost, where does the ingested blood go? I think Bella mentioned that after hunting Edward seemed a bit flushed. WHY? Does the blood enter the vamp-bloodstream? I thought there wasn't a bloodstream to talk about...
Does all blood get ingested and nothing goes to waste? How convenient :)
Ok, let's get out of potty-humor territory and move to the safer one - looks. Twi-vampires are supposed to be drop dead gorgeous, and apparently their features get enhanced during the transformation. I always wondered how that works... The skin is hard, smooth and cool to the touch, right? Well, the coldness obviously comes from the lack of blood in the system (we're back to that, I guess). What about the hardness and smoothness, as well as the infamous sparkle, are they somehow caused by the venom when it enters the system?
We all know that hair and nails grow even on the dead person, so is it safe to assume that all vampires got at least few haircuts during their hundreds of years? Or does the hair just keep growing?
What else... well, there are the eyes... How do they change color? Why the "vegetarians" get the pretty golden ones, while the natural, carnivorous type, are stuck with the conspicuous bloody ones?
I actually thought that the story of Edward being able to become a daddy, was somewhat believable, but then again, when I thought about it a little more (but not too much, I promise), I stumbled upon a thought that sperm that was "frozen" inside a male vampire's body would still be... human, woudln't it?
Ok, please don't hate me for this little barrage of questions. I do know that Twilight is a work of fantasy fiction (and an excellent one at that). I love all the characters and am forever thankful to Mrs. Meyers for creating them, their little physiological quirks notwithstanding. But seriously, have you ever wonder about this stuff as well, or is it just me? ;) Confess, people!

Kristen goes 'On the Road'

In some great news Kristen has been cast as Marylou in the onscreen adaptation of Jack Kerouac's Iconic road tripper novel 'On the Road'. The movie will be directed by Walter Salles.  According to HitFix:

"Kerouac's mostly autobiographic and critically acclaimed novel centers on trips he took with friends across America in the 1950s.  The author's alter ego, Dean Moriarty, will be played by "Tron Legacy's" Garrett Hedlund.  According to the Hollywood Reporter, Stewart will play Moriarty's "on-and-off" wife Marylou.  Sam Riley, who shined in the indie "Control," will play Keruoac's alter ego Sal Paradise."

Eclipse Quote of the Day #56

"Do me a favor and challenge him to an arm-wrestling match. It would be a good experience for him." - Edward

Alice and Victoria Barbies are on the way!

So I already have this one...

But I must, MUST, have these!

These pics were tweeted by @Twilight earlier this afternoon. They will be coming out this summer. I love both of them and cannot wait to add them to my collection. I'll also be picking up the Bella and Jacob, which I hadn't done yet, simply so that my collection will be complete. Brilliant on Summit's part.

So, what do you think? Will you be picking up these two? (And don't you think the Alice Barbie has a strong resemblance to @AccentOnLife? LOL)

Eclipse Discussion - Chapter 21. Trails

This week's guest poster is Amber...not, not me...Amber of Rob My World and Shack of Soul. Two fantastic sites that you need to check out if you don't already follow them. You can also follow her on twitter @AmberRMW.

We pick up the morning after the engagement. Yeah, Bella and Edward are all officially engaged, although Bella is still weirded out by the whole prospect of getting married so she accepted the ring (hideous or not, you decide), then kindly gave it back. In Bella's mind, this was nothing more then a few words to be said in front of a priest in Vegas so she could get what she ultimately wanted, which was "getting down to business" with Edward. She didn't even have to tell anyone, so it could all be their little secret.

Alas, how quickly she forgot about Alice. Of course Alice would have seen this. You just know she's been looking for it. So it's no surprise that she is in a foul mood when they get home that afternoon. She warns them that the weather is going to be cold with snow and to pack for a very cold night. Then, she corners Bella and pulls a major guilt trip. Edward knows it's coming, but in typical male fashion just leaves the girls at it.

And that Alice! That girl is convincing for sure. Not only does she make Bella promise not to go to Vegas, but she convinces Bella to let her be the official wedding planner. Yep, Bella learns a couple hard lessons. 1) You don't try and cross Alice and 2) Weddings are never really for the couple, but the family. I myself learned this the hard way, so I can feel for her.

From there we head to the namesake of the chapter, which is setting the trails for the newborns to follow. As you all remember, the point is to lead the newborns into an ambush, and keep Bella safely on top of the mountain, away from any potential danger.

First, Bella walks the trail that will lead them in with Edward, pulling out stray hairs and all along the way. Edward reminds Bella that she can fight Alice and they can do the wedding her way, but I'm pretty sure Bella already knows it's a lost cause at that point.

While walking, Bella falls, cause that's what she does, and cuts her hand, causing her to bleed. She's insistent that Edward let her be and not be uncomfortable, but Edward says he's good. After rubbing her blood all over the place to prove that she too can be helpful without fighting, Edward moves to clean up her hand. He maintains that the smell no longer bothers him.

He got over it. Yep, that happened.

Edward basically said that he lived for a full day thinking she was dead and that changed his reactions to her. Basically, his entire body screams "save her" versus "kill her" now. The trail set and done, enter Jacob. Yes, yes, hold back your enthusiasm.

Now comes phase 2... getting Bella up the mountain while leaving a trail no newborn would ever follow, the trail of a wolf. After going over the logistics, Bella is now in Jacob's arms and the run up the mountain begins. Of course, as any good conversation begins, they discuss the weather, Jacob reiterating Alice's concerns about the cold.

Then, of course, Jacob reminds Bella of her options, reminding her that she has really only kissed one person in her whole life and she is ready to call it quits. He wants her to remember she can play the field, with him specifically. Jacob has no problem being the experimental other kiss to weigh against Edward and make sure he is the right choice. Bella is pretty insistent with him, and tells him not to expect that kiss any time soon.

Then after goofing about how Bella likes Jacob better as a wolf (cause he can't talk, duh), Jacob finds out Edward is not fighting. Bella starts with her slight (okay, a little more than hysterics) about how if anyone gets hurt that it's her fault and she wouldn't know what to do if Edward didn't come back.

Typical Jacob can't believe Edward would drop out of the fight for Bella, even if she asked him too. Bella said she will be sick with worry because they are best friends. Jacob ruins the sweet moment to tell her she loves him, and that it is possible to love two people at once.

The campsite is approaching, and Bella asks Jacob to stay and not go fight. Jacob says no way, plus Sam is calling the shots, so he has to go. She asks him about the conversation she had with Edward about Jake being the beta of the group. Jacob reveals that actually, because of his lineage, really he was in line to be the alpha wolf. Come to find out, Jacob was offered the job, but turned it down. He was just not ready to step up.

Bella and Jake arrive at the campsite and Edward is waiting. The storm is looming, the tent is secure and Jacob heads off to change.

Be sure to leave Amber some love in the comments for this great post and weigh in with your thoughts. If you haven't checked it out, here's the link for the discussion her hubs, theshagdaddy, did for us a couple of chapters ago.

Kristen attends the MET gala!

Kristen was invited to attend the highly prestigious MET gala last night. The MET gala is one of the most highly anticipated fashion events of the year it is hosted by Vogue magazine and Anna Wintour and to be invited is a huge honor. Kristen was dressed in Chanel Haute Couture and Chanel fine jewelry with a Chanel clutch. Kristen's look was definitely avant garde and probably not for everyone. New 'Eclipse' Cast Images revealed!

New 'Eclipse' character images have been revealed on the official 'Eclipse' website. The images seem a lot more realistic than we have seen from those in 'Twilight' and 'New Moon' and, in my opinion, not as airbrushed. At present only the Cullen's, the Wolfpack, the Volturi and Bella are represented on the site. Hopefully we will get images of the 'human's', Charlie, Renee and Billy soon!

Go here to view all of the images and biographies.

What do you think of the new 'Eclipse' images?

Robert Pattinson comic preview

Bluewater Productions will be releasing their Robert Pattinson bio-comic later this month. You can pre-order your copy by clicking Fame: Robert Pattinson. MTV has a preview of the comic today and I wanted to share my favorite page and cover with you. Not sure exactly how the covers are going to work yet, but there is a cover A and a cover B. Here is B... That's pretty well drool worthy right there, don't you think? A very good likeness and I have been told that Rob's features are a nightmare to draw. I'm sure it's difficult to recreate such perfection.

If you're not aware, this comic was written by the incredibly talented Kimberly Sherman, who most of you probably know as Twilight Moonlighter. I am incredibly proud to call her a friend and very excited to check out this new project. Just so you don't think this is a comic all about Edward, here is an excerpt from a recent interview.
A total of 3 pages are dedicated to his role as Edward Cullen. This book is a biography of Robert Pattinson, not of Edward Cullen, and the process of each of his roles- how and why he auditioned for various parts- is an interesting part of the entire picture, making for a smooth transition within his story.

And as for the preview pages, this one is my favorite so far. The Edward pics are just lovely.

Be sure you pre-order one of these and look for us in the bibliography!

We'd love to hear your comments on this one!

First Bel Ami still released

I keep seeing this tweeted and people saying they've already seen it, but I hadn't, and it's lovely, so I'm posting it!
It's official...this movie will be the death of me... So what do you think? Are you excited to see Rob as Georges Du Roy? Have you read the book?

'Remember Me' and 'The Runaways' are still performing well at the Box Office and Kellan's new movie 'Nightmare on 'Elm Street' opened strong this weekend too.

The focus on 3D movies this summer

This summer sees a host of movies launch in 3D including 'Eclipse'.  Daily News has a great article about this summers blockbusters and the emphasis for the first time on 3D.

"Will this be the summer of 3-D?" asked Paul Dergarabedian, box office analyst for "And will this be the summer that actually hits $5 billion because of the 3-D component?"
The question is worth framing. So far this year, a mere four films – "Avatar," "Alice in Wonderland," "How to Train Your Dragon" and "Clash of the Titans" - have racked up a whopping 25 percent of North American box-office revenues from their 3-D screenings alone.

LA Times interviews the Cullens and the Wolfpack

The LA times is doing a great series of interviews as we approach the release of Eclipse. They firstly interviewed the Cullen clan and asked what we could expect this go round from the family. Peter said "This time around, you get to see their true vampire-ness," and Elizabeth added "The whole family is in a vulnerable position because of the love we have for Bella,....If she's not OK, we're not OK."

You can read the full Cullen family interview article here.

The Wolfpack interview focused more on getting to know the actors portraying the wolfpack. Alex said "The Cullens are very reserved.  They're vampires, but they're not out killing people. They're not what they're meant to be. Whereas the Wolf Pack, we're through and through animals. We're frisky. We're fun. There's something sexy about that."

You can read the full Wolfpack interview article here.
