Saturday Not-So-Random: More Delicious Details

We've gotten a peek at the cover and some of the pages for Rob Pattinson's Details magazine photoshoot. For those unfamiliar with the way Details does business. Their photographs tend to run to the erotic/suggestive (however very artsy). I'm posting the cover, but the rest are not appropriate for our PG-13 rule here. You can see the rest at Thinking of Rob, but please be warned that many of the images are not appropriate for work or for young children.

**Updated** -Details has now posted Rob's interview, a photo slideshow and a very, VERY steamy video from the shoot. As Kerry said about the earlier pics, these are not appropriate for children or work. There will be more photos posted on their site next week.

As for the interview, it's definitely not your usual Rob fair, as these pics certainly aren't. Personally, I think it's really a step in the right direction. While there are a lot of people out there who would like to think of Rob as Edward, he is not. Edward is eternally 17, a boy. Rob is a grown man, with a career ahead of him that has the potential to be absolutely legendary if he plays his cards right. Are there things in this magazine that aren't appropriate for his younger fans? Absolutely, but as a parent myself I have to say, I'm okay with that. Because he is a grown man, not a teenager. I think this is also a good step for Twilight fans because it gives us a chance to demonstrate that some of us are grown ups too.

Eclipse Book Discussion - Chapter 9: Target

This post will contain book spoilers through chapter 9 of Eclipse. Go Read.

Now that we've calmed our quivering lady parts from the Leg Hitch, it's time to move on to chapter 9. Don't worry. It's totally normal that you went back and reread the last chapter, by the way.

The chapter opens with Alice bringing Bella home; keeping up the 'slumber party' charade. Get used to it Bella, it's all about charades from now on. She even has new clothes! Sneaky Alice! "It's all part of the charade, Bella!" *innocent face*

Jacob has called while Bella is away. You know how much I love Charlie, but he goes a little overboard here with the Jacob cheerleading. He's not happy with Edward, and I can't really blame him. The blatant championing of Jacob cracks me up though. We get, through the message Charlie took, that Jacob is upset over their fight, and wants to talk to Bella again. Jacob still is a sweet kid, even with his new werewolfy angst, so of course he's upset that he hurt Bella's feelings.

Then there's the ominous clue. Bella is doing laundry and notices a few pieces of her wardrobe AND her pillow are missing. See, Alice? There's a good reason for Bella's limited wardrobe! She might not have noticed otherwise.

Or at least not until Edward shows up. She's greeted by a very hawt anxious looking Edward who has caught the scent of a strange vampire around Bella's house. He promptly dashes up the stairs. Oh, the benefits of a boyfriend that can get by the Dad without notice! My high school boyfriend hadn't figured that trick out, that's for sure.

I love how Charlie assumes they're fighting and is all happy about it. Oh Charlie, if you only knew. You could be a little more subtle, maybe..

Bella and Edward return to the Cullen house, needing to speak to Alice regarding the new development. Edward is a little freaked out and takes it out on his sister a bit. Luckily, Alice is not impressed by this. And Bella tells him to chill out. It's a great scene though, as it really demonstrates how dependent they are on Alice's visions. And it's great that, even without the interference from the wolves, that it's not entirely perfect. That there are ways around it. It's a distinct advantage, but infallibility can be boring.

They try to surmise who it could be. It was a strange scent, so no one they've met before. A minion of Caius or Jane seems to be the most logical answer. It's possible it's a random stranger, intrigued by the presence of vampire scent at her house, but that's dismissed as unlikely. Jasper and Emmett follow the trail and confirm that the strange vampire is long gone.

Bella seizes the moment to plead for an immediate change. The Cullen's are united in their belief that it is not the time. I find this somewhat interesting. I have to wonder if this support is for Edward's benefit. There would be a distinct advantage in changing Bella now, strategically. The same benefit that would have been helpful all along. She would no longer be vulnerable to Victoria or the Volturi. Just as the old vampire that changed Alice did it to prevent James from killing her; this would have the same effect. But, the Cullens play by another set of rules, and considering Charlie's feelings is also a viable argument.

This brings us to what I believe is the most significant portion of the chapter. The next day, Bella informs Edward that she is going to call Jacob and forgive him for his comments. No one is surprised, it's not in Bella's nature to hold grudges. "Many talents" Edward says. Rawr. I digress...

Edward still seems resolved in his new attitude towards Jacob, which gives us all some hope. This is doubled when Edward actually requests to speak with Jacob directly. We finally get a glimpse of what can happen when Edward and Jacob work together. They do have a common goal, after all, to protect Bella. They may not outwardly admit what they have in common yet, but it does show that they can set aside their differences just enough to protect what they love. And if Edward wanted to prove to Bella that he meant what he said the previous night, he certainly has achieved it now. Kudos, also, to Jacob, for stepping up to the grown up plate and being mature enough to work on this.

We close as Jacob prepares to come to Bella's house to catch a whiff of the new scent himself. The groundwork of an alliance is laid

Please discuss in the comments! Next week, Sabrina is back!

An Early Birthday Wish for Taylor Lautner (Or: Where Are They Wednesday?)

Team Taycob!!

Tomorrow is the big day! The BIG ONE-EIGHT! Are you excited? You are? Good! You're not the only one!

Now, I'd lead you all in  "Happy Birthday" but A. You don't really want to hear me sing. and B. I actually looked up what it costs to license the Happy Birthday song last night and, well, let's just say it isn't going to happen.

Instead, I bring you this:

We recently saw Taylor out at the Valentine's Day premiere.

It cracks me up that Shaun Robinson always has something for him. Every. Time. Are you trying to tell us something Ms. Robinson? Not that she's alone. Tomorrow is an anxiously awaited day by many women. And Chris Hansen, since he'll have some extra time on his hands finally. Poor Taylor. On the day he should be hanging at the post office, registering to vote and filling out his selective service card, he will suddenly realize that just staying out of Georgia will no longer keep him safe.

Welcome to Rob's world, Taylor.

Valentine's Day opens this weekend, so those of you like me that are mourning the end of Swiftner can get a little fix. Yay! I also have to admit that I spent a good deal of time giggling over Taylor's new Stretch Armstrong gig. 3D even!!!

So, while Taylor is enjoying his red velvet cupcake and making wishes, we can see what the rest of the cast is up to:

Rob: Still in London. Filming for Bel Ami is officially underway. Casting is pretty much finalized. Holly Grainger has joined the cast as Suzette, the daughter of Georges' nemesis. If you've seen The Bad Mother's Handbook, you'll remember Holly from there. I'm very excited to see them work together again, with a totally different dynamic!

Check out the new Remember Me TV spot:

Kristen: Hey Taylor! Look to Kristen for an example of adulthood. She's been serving jury duty! I can't wait to see her in The Runaways in just over a month! Here's the new poster:

Jackson: Check out the trailer for The Last Airbender that aired during the Superbowl!

Ashley: It's never Ashley without a new gorgeous photo shoot. Christmas for my hubby. Marie Claire for the rest of us.

Kellan:  Oh Kellan. I might have to rethink my "I just want to pat you on the head and feed you cookies" stance.

Peter:  Don't miss this, people! We love how involved Peter is with various charities, and now he brings one directly to the Twilight fans: Peter and his pal Rob DiFranco (All the single ladies!) have teamed up to bring us:

The official statement:
Twihards4Charity is a new social campaign that helps Twilight fans from all over the world make a difference by uniting them with a common goal - to give to those in need through charities and special causes. 211me has brought in sponsors, brands and support from celebrity favorites like Peter Facinelli to provide TwiHards with Twilight-themed products they love. In return, a portion of the proceeds from every sale will go to a designated cause or charity.

Read more about it at the Twilight Examiner and at the official site.

And lastly:

We're a bit behind the ball here, but we did want to express our congratulations to Anna Kendrick for her Oscar nomination. It is truly an honor to be nominated, and she is incredibly deserving of it. Good luck Anna!

Tuesday Twi-Theories: An Intervention

This post will contain book spoilers for Eclipse. Go Read.

In last Thursday's Eclipse discussion we covered the part of the story where Edward goes hunting and bribes Alice into kidnapping inviting Bella over for a girls' night sleepover.

We know the real motivation behind this, of course. Edward and Bella have been at some odds over the werewolves since Edward's return to Forks. Edward has stooped to some crazy stunts to prevent Bella from visiting Jacob. Disabling her truck, following her home when she manages to slip away, our dear Edward shows us all he's not so perfect after all.

Don't worry, Edward. We still love you.

Is he worried for her safety? Or, is he simply jealous of the new boy in Bella's life. With the previous chapter discussions and Twi-Theories, I think we've all agreed that it's a little of both. Personally, I think it leans slightly in favor of worrying for her safety, I really don't believe that Edward would take such drastic measures to prevent her from going if it were simply a matter of jealousy. Either way, it doesn't matter. Because he did take those drastic measures. Regardless of the motivations, those actions have an impact on his relationship with Bella. She still loves him, she's standing her ground on Jacob, but the fact that she's sneaking shows that there is an impact.

Then, quite suddenly, Edward changes his stance on Bella going to the reservation. The very same hunting trip that Bella was kidnapped by Alice; Edward comes home to announce that he will trust her judgment and not allow the matter to come between them. Yay, Edward!

How did he reach this decision?

Here's my theory: The previous week, all of the Cullens were going to go hunting, except Alice, who would stay close to home and be able to help Bella if she needed it. This hunting trip was cut short, of course, since Bella escaped to the reservation. When they plan the new trip, it's only the Cullen men that are going.

Why? I think they had themselves a little intervention.

Jasper and Alice are the most 'newlywed' of the Cullens. And that's still nearly 60 years, Emmett and Rosalie have 15 or so years on them, and Carlisle and Esme another 10ish. Despite what men say about understanding women, I think it's safe to say that the three married Cullen men have figured out a thing or two about maintaining a good relationship with their mate. Being of the generations they are, this was man's business. The business of teaching the younger son/brother/friend how to be a man. It would not have been done in the company of their women, nor spoken about afterward.

I can very easily see the three of them sitting down with Edward following a thrilling hunt and offering some advice on the matter. That yes, he can't watch over her on the rez, and there's always a danger of Jacob or any of them phasing at the wrong moment, but that, ultimately, what he is doing is driving a wedge between them. It's small now, because they are still newly reunited, but it will get worse. Irritation will turn into resentment. Intimacy becomes withdrawal. They could probably each show him a moment in their minds when they dealt with something with their wives.

Also, Carlisle, Emmett and Jasper have seen the wolves in action to a point. They can probably vouch for their ability to protect Bella from Victoria while she's on the reservation.  Even Edward, in his over-reacting, stubborn ways, recognizes the wisdom that the others bring. Even Emmett. If you read Midnight Sun, you might remember the conversation between Emmett and Edward on their trip to Goat Rocks.

Combine that with Bella's angry voicemail and Edward has some perspective. He comes home and learns of Bella's "escape" from Alice, and the point is driven home. Even more so, because he can see how reckless she could become in her attempts to maintain her friendship.

I'm sure it did nothing to take away from the fear and the jealousy. He did have a better grasp on how to deal with the emotions though. I would say, it allowed him to deal with his jealousy even better. Now he could see how the dynamic between Bella and Jacob worked. He had a much clearer head for coping.

What do you think? An intervention? Beat down?  Or something else?

Movie News Monday

Are you DYING for Eclipse updates???  We actually have a few! Not many, but a few bits of deliciousness we can soak up while we wait for a trailer.

A few non-spoiler items for those going spoiler free:

1. Burger King will follow up their New Moon promotion with an Eclipse promotion close to movie time. From Amanda Bell at Twilight Examiner:
According to Advertising Age, the company has signed on to promote itself through Eclipse, "for what is now being called the 'female superfan.'"
If yesterday's story about the Twilight fan effect upon the Volvo car industry is any indication, they may just be onto something.
Apparently, BK's Eclipse plans have something to do with "a gaming promotion."

2. David Slade says Eclipse: Now with more Edward!

Woot!  I think the man knows the fans!

Spoiler Alert ahead. Stop here if you don't want to see Eclipse stills.
