Thank you for all your help in sending items and in helping to get the word out. Hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas season!

Belated Eclipse DVD Review

Well, I'd say it's official, the Twi-zealotry is finally winding down. If it took me about a week to watch the entire DVD so I could review it, things are definitely slowing down in the Twilight Universe (at least for me, I guess).

Anyhow... It's here! Now, the major disclaimer, Eclipse is probably my personal (put down those tomatoes, ladies, I'm entitled to an opinion, don't I?) least favorite of the 3 movies, but addition all the extras on the DVD did add to a more enjoyable and enlightening experience, I have to say. So, here's a rundown of my Eclipse DVD experience:
* I got the "usual" 2-disc special edition from Costco, no bells and whistles, not even a blue-ray. The cover is ok, Bella looks pretty, Jacob-foxy and Edward rather monumental (as in - like a statue, hehe). Now, let's get into the "special" part - the extra features on the discs.
* Major attraction for most of us, hard-core fans for this one was the promise of Robsten audio commentary and it certainly delivered. I was a tad surprised and even a little off-put when they first came on and jokingly admitted to being in totally different locations. But you know what? They were relaxed, very funny and fun to listen to. It felt a bit like eavesdropping on two buddies, chatting and giggling and flirting a little ;) The most serious part was hearing how K. describes "making of" special effects (while watching super-speed running of Cullens, Victoria and wolves) after seeing "behind the scenes" footage on DVD #2 (more on that later). Somehow, it seems Rob got to skip most of the physical training for this one. He did do some fighting, but very little running/jumping, lucky bastard.
Love-love-loved their easy, silly banter, I literally giggled with them the whole time. Rob sounds genuinely offended and jealous (albeit lightheartedly) for his character, and Kristen is constantly defending and explaining Bella's position.

Second commentary option, with Stephenie Meyer and Wyck Godfrey are way more serious, but still fun and entertaining. They talk more about little details in every scene, about music and screenplay. Tons of interesting tidbits of information there. S. is gushing about Billy Burke, who, I agree, stole every scene he's in. He provides most of comic relief in this movie as well.

All the wigs get ton of attention from all the commenters. Sounds like they (wigs) have a personality of their own, bad days, good days, fans and foes in every movie. Very cute. So, imho, both sets of commentary is wonderful and totally worth watching/listening to, it's a special treat for us, fans.

The rest of the DVD extras I was not all that impressed with.
* The "Making Of" was moderately interesting, with some insight on more technical side of the process (the sets built from scratch to mimic real locations from past movies, special effects and rigs, training, challenges and successes). I didn't get too many juicy details about the actors or the director's personal style of shooting like we did in Twilight or emotional motivations as in New Moon. But then again, I think the current director was chosen for his action-building skills, not his "soft side", and it shows in both movie and extras.
* Deleted and Extended Scenes - very few and far apart. Not at all generous with those this time. Most memorable for me probably the "girl talk" between Bella and Angela, although it's understandable why it didn't make into the movie, it was nice to see the "human" side of the story.
* Photo Gallery - SUCKED. Low res pictures that we all have seen before. I didn't get the whole point of having them there at all. If they're so afraid of them being "stolen" or whatnot, why bother adding them to the disc at all?
* Edward and Jacob FAST FORWARD, a neat feature for obsessive-compulsive rabid fans. You can drool selectively and uninterrupted, whichever team you happened to be on :)
* Two music videos I personally enjoyed very much. Being a huge fan of both Metric and Muse, an extra viewing of their respective video clips was a pleasure.
And... that's a wrap, people. I'd love to hear what you thought of your own personal DVD-viewing experience... Did you enjoy it? Did you have a party? How many times?..

Help keep our troops warm

One of the things that is so nice about having blog and twitter followers and the people in this fandom is that we are able to work together to help others. Some of you may remember Shaun, the soldier featured in my "Real Men Read Twilight" series. He also wrote a guest post during our Eclipse discussion. Shaun is currently deployed to Afghanistan and he's given us a great idea on how to help support the troops. From his facebook page...

OK so a lot of you have been asking me about what you could possibly send and is there anyway to help out the troops. Yes there is and what we could use is some hand warmers. You know the kind that you shake up and put in your pockets. It is starting to get very cold out here and we don't have very good heat sources ...for our troops in the towers and on the line. These would go a long way in raising the troops' morale.

<--This is the kind of thing that he's talking about. They can use this type of hand warmers, foot warmers and body warmers. Anything like this to help keep them warm.You DO NOT have to purchase a whole box or order them from Amazon. Every set helps keep someone warm and will make a difference.

I'm ashamed to say that it never occurred to me that the cold was an issue in Afghanistan, but the winter there can bring days with highs around 10 degrees F and lows around -10 degrees F. Those winter temperatures can last until March or April.

This is the perfect time of year to think of the troops and do something for them. If you are interested in sending some of these, you can either send them directly yourself or send them to me for shipment. Just email me or send me a message on twitter and I'll be glad to get you all the information that you need. If you order them on amazon, you can actually have them shipped directly. A nice little benefit!

Let's work together to make this a successful effort! If you'd like to keep up with Shaun, he has a new blog, From Afghanistan With Love. I highly recommend it.

'Eclipse' DVD buying guide

As you know the 'Eclipse' dvd is released on December 4th. When 'New Moon' was released on DVD we were overwhelmed with buying options with multiple versions in different stores and with each store featuring many 'extras'. This time the buying options are a little simpler but which version is the best value? We found this great article on which version to buy Via Check out the guide below!

Catherine Hardwicke's new movie trailer is released!

The trailer for Catherine's new movie 'Red Riding Hood', a re working of the classic fairy tale, has been released. Check out the trailer below! Some fun facts - 'Red Riding Hood' stars Shiloh Fernandez who originally tested for Catherine for the role of Edward Cullen. Catherine didn't think that Shiloh had the same level of intense chemistry with Kristen as Rob had and the rest is history. The movie is produced by Leonardo DiCaprio's production company and Billy Burke (who we all know and love as papa Charlie Swan) also stars!

Peter reveals what 'Nurse Jackie' has in store for Dr. Coop

Peter Facinelli has revealed that his Dr. Coop character will go through some tough times this season;

"This year, Coop goes through quite a depression," he says. "Which is sad for him. I feel bad. Some tragic things happen in his life, but Coop's [normally] so happy-go-lucky. I hate seeing him in such a slump, but hopefully he'll pull out of it. I'm shooting episode eight so I'm waiting for him to pull out of this funk."

If you haven't checked out 'Nurse Jackie' you should! You can watch it on Showtime - Peter is excellent in the show!

'Welcome to the Rileys' distribution and box office update!

Welcome to the Riley's' is on it's nearly fourth week of release and so far it's box office is at $100,881. The movie's producer Giovanni Agnelli tweeted today;

"If you contact your local art house / indie theater and they express interest in showing Welcome to the Rileys, I will try to get it there"
"The distributor wants to get the movie out as much as possible. Its a VERY crowded time of year for movies, its up to the theaters now"
"Contact the owner/manager of your local theaters. Distributor may not know some of the smaller theaters in your town."
"Studio is still expanding WTTR. I want fans to have a voice where it shows too. Check w/your local theater, if they want it, let me know"
"WTTR scheduled to open in: Washington DC, Nashville TN, Plano TX, Dallas TX, Rochester NY, Chigago IL, San Francisco CA, Philadelphia PA, Kansas City, Miami Beach Winter Park and Sarasota FL, San Diego CA"

Bid for a 'Breaking Dawn' set visit!

Charity Buzz has teamed up with the GO Campaign for an opportunity to win a visit to the set of "Breaking Dawn" in Vancouver!  The auction, which closes bidding on December 8, allows one winner to select three friends to travel with them to Vancouver to visit the set of "Breaking Dawn." Winners will spend two nights in a deluxe executive suite at the elite Four Season Hotel in Vancouver, complete with VIP limo service to and from the "Breaking Dawn" set. As part of the day on the set, winners have the chance to spend time with the film's cast! Obviously this opportunity will cost a pretty penny and bidding is currently listed at $30,000 dollars (!!). But the money is going to a great cause as proceeds from the auction are donated to the GO Campaign's efforts to improve the lives of orphans and vulnerable children throughout the world.

Anna speaks out against bullying

Ashley profiled in Gotham Magazine!

Ashley (who seems to be everywhere lately!) has just been profiled in 'Gotham' magazine.  In the profile she talks about working with Jennifer Garner in 'Butter' and how grateful she has been for the Twilight opportunity;
"“It was the first comedy I’ve ever done, so I was equally terrified and excited,” says Greene. “Plus I was working with Jennifer Garner, who I could just sit and watch all day long.”....
“Right now my fans seem to be growing with me. I want my fans to know that Twilight has given me an incredible opportunity, but this is all still new and exciting"

New Michael Welch interview!

Team Twilight had the honor of interviewing Michael Welch, who we all know as hapless Michael Newton, about his new movie 'Unrequited' and his role in the upcoming 'Breaking Dawn' filming. Some highlights of the interview include;
"Have you read the [Breaking Dawn] script?
But you’re signed on?
Yes, I will be in Breaking Dawn.
Do you think it’s possible for Mike to get any closure?
It just depends on how you look at it. I’m thinking back to my lost first love from high school into my young adult life. I don’t recall getting closure, you just sort of move on. Rejection sucks and it certainly can’t be easy for Mike to watch this woman he loves committing herself to another man. Well, another “man” as far as he knows. But at the same time, I’m sure there’s also a layer of him feeling happy for Bella. It’s pretty clear how much Bella loves Edward. So I think there’s an element of someone that you care about being happy, so there might be some closure there.
Do you think you’ll get more screen time than you did in Eclipse? You were in Eclipse for about 5 seconds. That was disappointing.
Yes, in Eclipse I had my little cafeteria scene and then I had the graduation with that stupid look on my face sitting behind Bella and Edward in soft focus. I’ll probably get at least as much screen time in Breaking Dawn. New Moon is my peak in the franchise, which is strange when you think about it.
The theater scene is a great scene, though, when you get sick. It’s excellent. Very enjoyable to watch. I feel sorry for Mike at the time.
I’m very proud of that sequence. That’s my mark on the Twilight franchise, that little 3 ½ minutes and the cafeteria.
I’d like to see you and your other human friends have a little more time, but knowing the story…
Yeah, there’s not a lot of opportunity for additional scenes in a book that’s close to a thousand pages, they’re not looking to add scenes. They’re looking to cut out whatever they can."

Check out the full great interview on Team Twilight!

New Twilight 'Fame' comic book

The team behind the 'Fame' comic books have a new release. This one will be called 'Fame - The cast of Twilight' and it will be a compilation of previously released Fame editions along with a history of Stephenie Meyer.

The comic is released December 1st and can be pre ordered HERE.

No Bella's wedding gown for Zac Posen

Last week I posted an article about Bella's wedding gown and the rumors surrounding who will design it and what it will look like. (Read the article HERE). One of the names heavily rumored at the time was Zac Posen, but he put that rumor to rest this weekend when he tweeted;

A pretty unequivocal denial you would agree and we won't mention the fact Carrie Bradshaw (a fictional person) wears Zac Posen in Sex and The City movies... So the mystery continues and the story goes on - this is a big deal job, this tweet even made it to the NY Mag Fashion pages! I can't wait to see who the designer turns out to be!

Jackson tweets from 'No Ordinary Family'

Jackson is currently guest starring on ABC's 'No Ordinary Family' and he is expected to continue in the role for at least the next several episodes. Last week he tweeted from the set and answered viewers twitter questions! Jackson Rathbone Online has the full transcript which you can read HERE.

"Hi Jackson. I read somewhere that you are finalizing a deal to be in “Shadowland.” Any word on this? Much Love, Cassandra
@Cass100monkeys you read correct. i am in final negotiations.."

"Not sure if this has been asked or not, if you could jam with any musician dead or alive, who would it be, and what would you play?
@AuthorHeatherGarrett I would jam with Bach, and I would play electric guitar.

"Jackson: What do you hope to accomplish within the next year. I know theres alot of different projects you are working on but what new task are you wanting to learn to add to your quite impressive resume?
@BlkDiamndDarlin i am actually developing a couple different tv shows… and producing up & coming indie bands …quite excited.
@BlkDiamndDarlin i want to learn to play the violin .."

Ashley talks to 'Access Hollywood' about her rise to fame

Ashley spoke to 'Access Hollywood' about her rise to fame and about the upcoming 'Breaking Dawn' filming. Ashley told 'Access' "I’ve only been down there for hair and makeup tests and to meet [director] Bill Condon, which was absolutely wonderful,” she explained. “But I haven’t actually started filming yet… that happens towards the beginning of December for me.” The 23-year-old said she’s itching to sink her teeth back into the vampire world.
“I’m really excited to get down there and goof around with those guys again,” Check out the video of Ashley's chat below.

Billy Burke talks 'Breaking Dawn'

Billy Burke was interviewed on the Victoria's Secret fashion show red carpet and talked about his hopes for the 'Breaking Dawn' honeymoon scenes, check out the video from Popsugar below!
The always excellent Twilight Examiner also found some comments Billy made earlier in the week at at a VH1''Save the Music' event that may hint at a new scene in the movie!
"my character actually gets to find out some stuff in these next two installments. I’ve been oblivious to the entire situation . . . so Charlie learns some things and I can’t wait for that moment when Charlie sees a werewolf". In the book we only HEAR through Edward that Jacob phased in front of Charlie, the scene is not played out. This may be an exciting addition to the movie!

Eyes of Amber, Breaking Dawn filming and Pap pictures

Many of you have been coming to Eyes of Amber for a long time (from well before I started blogging) and you know our site policies by now. However I wanted to take a moment to refresh and explain why we are not posting the 'Breaking Dawn' filming pictures/videos.

1 - We are paparazzi free - a lot of these pictures are pap pictures (many are fan pictures also) but it hard to distinguish that and it would go against our policies to post them here.
2 - A lot of the 'Breaking Dawn' information coming out has included actors locations/schedules. We feel this is not information that we should share, we want Rob and Kristen and the rest of the cast and crew to feel safe and secure on set and in their downtime.
3 - Amber and other readers are trying to remain 'BD Virgin's' (Amber did this for 'Eclipse' also (I don't know how!)) and I totally respect her and other readers rights to remain 'spoiler free' (in so much as you can having read the books!). If and when official stills of the production/movie are released we will post these under a cut like we did all through 'Eclipse' and Amber did previously for 'New Moon' and 'Twilight'

Thanks again for visiting we really appreciate all of our readers!

**For full disclosure - I loved seeing the pictures and have happily visited the many sites that have had great coverage of the cast's time in Rio. I have absolutely no issue with anyone else posting these on their site and there is no judgment from me on anyone else posting these.

***Amber here - I have seen some of them too, and they're fantastically exciting, but they aren't being posted here for all the reasons that Eimear has explained above. We're not judging anyone else's coverage, just sticking to our own policies

Bella's wedding gown

So there have been lots of rumors flying around about what 'THE' wedding dress will look like and who will design it. Today we got word via The Awful Truth (not the most reliable of sources to be fair) that "Apparently the wedding dress Bella wears isn't as hot as the sex scenes.
 "It's hideous," dishes our insider. "And it's not the designer's fault. Let's just say someone who has final say on the matter has decided upon a terribly conservative and ugly gown."
And last weeks big rumor was Zac Posen was the designer of choice. Kristen has previously worn Zac's edgy designs (see right) and Zac had sketched an example dress for an 'In Style' feature on the 'Twilight' gown (see here).
In the book the gown is described as;

"the narrow sheath of the shimmering white dress flared out subtly at the train almost like an inverted calla lily, cut so skillfully that her body looked elegant and graceful - while it was motionless, at least." the dress is also described as having a "long line of pearl buttons up my back"

So what do you think the dress should be like? Me - something like these to the left would be my choice but i want to see yours! Link me to your visions in the comments!

'Welcome to the Riley's' Box Office news

Welcome to the Riley's' was on it's second weekend of limited release this past weekend and added $17,784 to bring it's total gross to $59,929.
Again as we have said before this film will only get a wider release if people in the limited release areas go to see the movie. Here's hoping the executives allow more of us to see the movie over the coming weekends, I for one will be straight there!

Daniel Radcliffe spoofs 'Twilight' on 'The Simpsons'

This is just adorable - check out this brief clip of Daniel Radcliffe (my beloved Harry Potter - can't believe that series is nearly over also!) spoofing 'Twilight' on 'The Simpsons' this past weekend! Daniel played 'Edmund'

Anne Rice blasts Twilight!

The famed Vampire author Anne Rice has blasted 'Twilight' for it's "failure of imagination".  Speaking with New Jersey's 'Star Ledger' Rice said;

"Q. It is complicated, which is why I have such mixed feelings about “Twilight.” It’s so sanitized.
A. It’s based on a really silly premise: that immortals would go to high school. It’s a failure of imagination, but at the same time, that silly premise has provided Stephenie Meyer with huge success. It’s almost like a stroke of genius to put vampires in high school. They just graduate over and over again.

I hated high school.
A. Doesn’t everyone? The idea that if you are immortal you would go to high school instead of Katmandu or Paris or Venice, it’s the vampire dumbed down for kids. But it’s worked. It’s successful. It makes kids really happy."

More 'Breaking Dawn' cast news!

This isn't new (I am just late in posting! Sorry!) but Summit have announced another eight new cast members, Andrea Powell has confirmed her involvement and Michael Sheen has announced he will be filming again in December.

First up - who are the eight new cast members? Well this is what we know - only their names! Their roles have not been announced yet but here is a brief outline of who they all are;

Amadou Ly

Andrea Powell

Amadou Ly
Born in Senegal he has done some theater work and had a small role in "Law & Order" and several short films.

Olga Fonda
Olga Fonda
A Russian model and actress has appeared in "How I Met Your Mother" and "Entourage." She has also been cast in Hugh Jackman's upcoming futuristic boxing drama, "Real Steel."

Amadou Ly
Born in Senegal he has done some theater work and had a small role in "Law & Order" and several short films.
Masami Kosaka
Kosaka was in "The Runaways" in which he played a Japanese journalist interviewing Joan and Cherrie. He was also in "FlashForward," "What About Brian" and a low-budget action flick called "The Legend of Samurai."

 Wendell Pierce
Janelle Froe
Wendell has been in"The Wire" and currently in "Treme".
Wendell Pierce
Sebastiao Lemos - The Brazilian native has appeared in the TV series "Força-Tarefa," which literally translates to "Task Force," and a 2008 Portuguese-language short film titled "Cara e Coroa,"
Janelle Froehlich - Froehlich appeared in  "Hacienda Heights,"
Ty Olsson - He has appeared in "Men in Trees." He played a real-life 9/11 victim in "Flight 93" and was last seen on the big screen in "2012." Carolina Virguez - According to Deadline she stared in a Spanish series called 'Matalobos'

Michael Sheen
Via the Twilight Examiner Andrea Powell confirmed on her Facebook page that she will pay 'Sasha' mother of Irina and Tanya and as the Examiner says "Her inclusion in the film means that there'll probably be a flashback sequence involving her and the "immortal child" she adopted, as well as, potentially, the "Denali" daughters (Maggie Grace as "Irina", Casey LaBow as "Kate," and Mia Maestro as "Carmen"). This'll be a good way to explain the danger which "Irina" felt upon seeing "Renesmee" - which then sparks her tattling to the "Volturi," of course." (I think this is very likely in deed!)

Finally also via the Examiner Michael Sheen (who I love) has confirmed his return in Aro's shoes for December;
""We’re doing the last Twilight movie, so we’ve got the two Breaking Dawn films that I’ll start in December. Then after that I’m going back to Wales, to do a version of The Passion in my home town"

Don't get misled by 'Love & Distrust'

There is a movie poster going around for a movie called 'Love & Distrust' and it says the 'film' stars Rob, Amy Adams, Robert Downey Jr and James Franco. Your first thought may be what a very, very talented cast. Your second thought maybe, hold up a second I am a huge Rob fan and I have never heard he was working with Amy Adams (who will star in 'On the Road' with Kristen) James Franco and RDJ. What's going on here?

Collider (as usual) has an excellent synopsis of what this 'Movie' actually is;
"This is a compilation of 5 movies. One of which is “The Summer House” With a short appearance by Robert Pattinson. The DVD has quite a misleading description and cover. Makes it look like Rob is starring in a film with Robert Downey et al....So the only part Rob has is in it is the short role he had in “The Summer House”. Just letting people know who may have it already."

Read their full article on it HERE.  I must admit to being sucked into this one a few months back and being totally confused that I hadn't heard of this movie Whilst it is a legitimate compilation with good quality content it isn't clear from the DVD advertising that it is a compilation of shorts which Rob is in for less than five minutes. The lesson for us all here - read the fine print and trust your judgement when purchasing DVD's/Merchandise claiming to be associated to/star Rob or any of the 'Twilight' cast. They are such hot commodities right now everyone is trying to cash in on their fame.

Great article Collider!

New 'Eclipse' picture of Julia!

David Slade has posted a gorgeous new picture of Julia Jones (Leah Clearwater) to his website (go to the website HERE). If you remember from the filming of 'Eclipse' David is an extremely talented photographer and would often tease us via twitpic with pictures of the cast. There are some gorgeous pictures of Xavier and Ashley on his site also so go check them out!

Great new Kristen interview! has a great new interview with Kristen for 'Welcome to the Rileys', one of the best Kristen interviews i have read in a long time. In the interview Kristen talks about 'Welcome to the Rileys', here gratitude at the opportunties 'Twilight' has given her and how scripts appeal to her.

One part that really stood out for me was her obvious excitement and enthusiasm in talking about her experience shooting 'On the Road', the Walter Salles adaptation of the Jack Kerouac novel that she recently finished. Tom Sturridge (who we all know from great 'Pirate Radio' and as Rob's best friend) is also in the movie as Carlo Marx/Allen Ginsberg.

""I worked with my friend Tom Sturridge, and he plays Carlo Marx, who's Allen Ginsberg," Stewart says, excitement creeping into her voice. "And I would look over at him, and he's doing this f****** full-on Allen Ginsberg crazy monologue in the corner of some thumping, raving party, and I'm dancing to bebop jazz, and I'd be like, 'Tom, we're doing "On the Road." Just so you know? "On the Road."'"

Her excitement for this movie is just so clear.  Read the full excellent interview HERE.

Chaske to speak at Tribal Safety and Wellness Session

Chaske Spencer is to speak on Wednesday, December 8th at the Tribal Justice Safety and Wellness Session in conjunction with the Office for Victims of Crime’s (OVC) 12th National Indian Nations Conference at the Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel.

In June 2009, the Justice Department announced the launch of a major new initiative to increase engagement, coordination and action on public safety in tribal communities. This effort, now known as The Tribal Justice Safety and Wellness Session, was kicked off with a series of regional summits to seek input from tribal representatives. Planning sessions included department component leaders, tribal leaders and experts in relevant areas to begin a dialogue on a range of important issues including law enforcement policy and personnel; communications and consultation; grants and technical assistance; detention facilities; federal prosecution in Indian country; tribal court development; domestic violence; drug courts and substance abuse; federal litigation involving tribes; and civil rights.

Chaske is heavily involved in the area of reducing poverty and creating sustainable communities. He is engaged in several projects to that end through the non-profit UNITED GLOBAL SHIFT and his personal project SHIFT THE POWER TO THE PEOPLE. This leads to Spencer, who is a Native American from the Lakota Sioux tribe in Idaho and Montana, speaking on behalf of the tribal community.
