Like to Play the Casting Game? Some Have Ideas for The Host

Stephenie Meyer asked the fan community for their ideas for a cast for her recently-optioned book, The Host. Amanda Bell, at the Twilight Examiner, summarized the popular choices in a great article yesterday, including some amazing fan art and video trailers.
I can't give my own opinion, really, I haven't yet read the book. There are an interesting array of suggestions, though, and it makes me curious what it is people think their choice could bring to the part. So I'll make a deal with you all. I'll go get the book and read it this weekend (give me a few extra days to finish..), and YOU leave a comment about who you'd pick for the various characters and why.
It's definitely something to help pass the next 27 days!
Thanks to OpenBookSociety, too.
Fan Made Friday: I Love Midnight Sun

Have you read Midnight Sun? I'm sure most of you have, but if you have no clue what I'm talking about, Midnight Sun is a short draft of a parallel novel to Twilight, the same story, just from Edward's point of view. Stephenie Meyer toyed with publishing it for a while, but unfortunately, some
Midnight Sun is an amazing opportunity to look into Edward's head. Want to know what exactly he was thinking during that first Biology class? Go read. You can find it here.
But, I digress, the point is to bring you FAN mad creations. We found this series of videos over at All Kristen Stewart. They are absolutely beautiful and well done tributes to Edward's thoughts in Midnight Sun. Check them out!

"Adapt Or Go Hang With Daisy" Is My New Catch Phrase

Last week, Kristen Stewart was on my mind. She gets a bit of the short end of the stick with this whole Twilight business. She's an accomplished, highly talented actress who is over-shadowed by her hearthrob costars, and often gets a bad rep for her awkward, shy, don't-care attitude.
I had considered writing a
"In a highly unscientific poll of Team 411, we determined that we like Kristen for her offbeat attitude, we like that she’s not another cookie-cutter starlet. Love her or hate her, Kristen Stewart is real. This is just her. Either you’re going to adapt, or you’re going to go hang with Daisy. Kristen fans are a discerning group. We do not need our girlcrush to pander to us, we don’t need her in the press saying something pseudo-shocking or flashing her panties every day. We love Kristen because she just is"

Even Timbaland wants Bella and Edward
Grammy award-winning rapper and producer Timbaland says he's a fanpire, too. He wants to do a new music video featuring Bella and Edward, and wants Kristen and Rob to help make it happen. He would set this to his single "Morning After Dark" from his upcoming album Shock Value 2. Here's the video from MTV, in all Timbaland's 'just woke up' voice.

New Moon Sneak Peek: Wolf Phasing
ITunes offered an exclusive look at the scene where Bella confronts Sam and the rest of the pack. See Bella put the smackdown on Paul, and see Paul lose it. The wolves look amazing! And it looks like they darkened up Jacob-wolf some. MUCH better, in my opinion. Take a look!
Vanity Fair Checks Out the Wolfpack
Are you jealous? Vanity Fair interviewed Alex Meraz and Kiowa Gordon recently, about their experience with New Moon.
From Alex:

What was your favorite scene to shoot?
The cliff diving scene was the most fun because the whole Wolf Pack was there and we were jumping off these 50-foot scaffolding things onto an air mattress. It was pretty exciting to be able to do our own stunts.
You didn't have stunt doubles at all?
No! They were pushing for it, we were pushing against; we wanted to do our own stuff. We had to train for a good two days, eight hours each day just practicing jumping, making sure we were landing safely. On the day [of shooting], we were actually jumping from a green screen cliff but it was actually taller and a little bit more dangerous because there was foliage and grass on top of it—it was a little slippery. We were fine, and it was really fun.
Did anyone on set take you under their wing or give you any good advice?
Just the Wolf Pack. We all helped each other along and gave each other advice.
Has anyone tried to prepare for what’s coming once the film is out?
They’re trying! They keep telling me that it’s going to be a lot crazier than what I’ve seen. They keep telling me that I can’t go outside of my house. I just think it’s nonsense.

And The Interview Avalanche Continues
Next up, The Hollywood Reporter talks to our new favorite director, Chris Weitz.
THR: How much do you interact with the Twi-hards?
Weitz: Quite a bit. I don't have an online, direct relation with the fans; I was too busy making the movie. But I sort of feel as though every bit of footage I get out is speaking to the fans in a way. I've only addressed the fans directly twice: At the very beginning, when I said, "Don't worry, I'm going to take care of this book," and then to address an insane rumor that all the Volturi were naked in their introductory scene. But I listened to what they have to say by checking in on the Internet. I didn't do it that much while we were shooting because I didn't want to get swayed one way or another; it would be like a politician just going by the polls. But now that the footage is complete, I kind of enjoy just checking in various sites and seeing what they like.

Some Jackson Love

Just for those of you who can't get enough Jackson, since I know Rathbone moments are few and far between. Jackson spoke with MTV about Jasper's backstory.
"It was just really fantastic to get to delve in there and to get to don all the Civil War regalia and whatnot. That was a pleasure," he said. "I had to wear this wool suit of a major, cavalry major. "I got the big hat and everything. Hop off the horse, bow to these ladies, and then I get eaten. And then I get turned!"
Who's excited about Jackson in uniform??
Get Your DVR's Ready
This is the part I know many of us are looking forward to: The run of promotional interviews. I can't wait for blunt Kristen, lovable Taylor, and adorkable Rob to make the rounds, and I'm sure we'll see a good bit of the rest of the Wolfpack and the Cullens as well. The first that I've heard of is for Regis & Kelly. Rob, Kristen and Taylor will be making appearances on November 18, 19 and 20.

Who wants to take bets as to how many times Kelly will have her hands all over Rob?
Surf the Web with Twilight
If you use Firefox, there are Twilight themed skins available for download. I've tried a few this morning, and I'm undecided. Some of them make it very difficult to see the rest of the buttons and such, but it's still fun to have MORE Twilight all over my laptop.
Amber is Still Rocking the Vamp Writing
Don't forget to keep checking out Amber's other columns. Her series on "Real Men Read Twilight" continues on t5m. The interview with Shaun, The Military Man, will continue this week. Be sure to look for that soon!
Amber also got a helping hand from Rob and kriSten Lovers at the Scream Awards. The lucky folks were able to be on the red carpet. They weren't able to interview the cast of the Vampire Diaries for her, but they did get some great pictures and gave Amber a great account of the event. Read that here!

That's it for this week's wrap-up, stay tuned for more news and check back soon for the winners of the Necco Candy Contest!

Twi-Theories Tuesday: Hallucinations and Choices
With New Moon coming (30 days!!!), I've been rereading the book and looking at some of the events. Last week we talked about Jacob in a broad sense, as he spans the series, and his purpose. This week, I was thinking about Bella's hallucinations and how they relate to Jacob.
In New
Moon, Bella discovers that when she does something reckless or dangerous she could hear Edward's voice very clearly, urging her to stop what she was doing. She begins actively looking for reckless things to do in order to prompt these hallucinations. There were also times when the hallucinations would start, even when she didn't actively choose to be reckless.I've always been intrigued by one moment of the hallucinations. After the cliff-diving incident, Bella begins considering the possibility of forging a relationship with Jacob beyond friendship. In her truck they have a moment.

"Butterflies assaulted my stomach as I thought about turning my head. And then, as clearly as if I were in immediate danger, Edward's velvet voice whispered in my ear. 'Be happy', he told me."
So what's significant about this hallucination. It stands out from the others in that there's no immediate physical danger. Even the hallucination she had earlier with Jacob, when confronting him about his involvement with Sam's "gang", there was physical danger, even if she wasn't aware of it.
The "butterflies" in her stomach indicate a level of adrenaline rush, though. Was it the possibility of danger, being involved with a werewolf, like Emily. Or that being involved with Jacob would be 'reckless'? Another possibility is emotional fear. The start of a new relationship after being hurt. The emotional pain of having to "give up" Edward. It's hard to say.
Every time before this moment, Hallucinatory Edward has cautioned her away from whatever she was doing. To stop moving towards the men in Port Angeles, to stay off the motorcycle, to stay away from the cliff edge, to give Laurent the lies to try to throw him off, to help calm Jacob down.
Is this occasion any different? On the surface, it sounds like "Edward" is telling her it's okay to be happy with Jake. But he doesn't say "Be happy with Jacob", he just says "Be happy."

We all know it's not really Edward talking to her, rather something from her subconscious. In some form or another, Bella knew that being with Jacob would be dangerous for her, whether physically or emotionally. This was the moment of choice. I'm sorry, Team Jacob, but I'm pretty sure it was set in stone in THIS moment. Not the moment in Eclipse. That may have been the emotions catching up with the decision, once she was emotionally ready to deal with it, but in this moment, in her truck, contemplating a future with Jacob and having a Cullen show up at her house, she was faced with her choice. "Be Happy".
Please comment and tell me what you think of Bella and her hallucinations and choices!
