In observance of World Habitat Day 2009, I’d like to draw your attention to Habitat for Humanity of the Mississippi Gulf Coast (HFHMGC), located in Biloxi, MS. Along with New Orleans and coastal Alabama and parts of the Florida panhandle, the Mississippi Gulf Coast was devastated by Hurricane Katrina more than 4 years ago, and is still working diligently to try and rebuild the area in general, and more specifically the homes that were lost for families that are still in need. We’re rebuilding on the coast every day, but we can’t do it without YOU!
HFHMGC builds on a weekly basis and has week-long volunteer opportunities available in addition to daily opportunities. You can check out their official website at http://www.hfhmgc.org. Affordable lodging & meals for the week is available for those from out-of-state!
The intention of this message is to raise awareness that rebuilding is still being done, and volunteers are still desperately needed! Many expenses while volunteering (often including airfare, mileage, food/lodging, etc.) are all tax deductible. HFHMGC accepts any volunteers who are 16 and older (though minors do require that an adult accompany them on the trip). Please see the official website for details.
Please check out the official website at http://www.hfhmgc.org, or email the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@hfhmgc.org. Your assistance is vital and appreciated!
*This is not an official post by any member of HFHMGC or its associates. This is a personal message.*
And is if that isn't enough the prizes do not end there! From Amazon.com...Prize. We will award 1 Grand Prize consisting of a trip for 2 to Los Angeles, CA to attend the premiere of “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” (the “Picture”). The Grand Prize includes:

Buzznet: What is the inspiration behind "Shooting The Moon" on the New Moon soundtrack?Damian: The song is about an astronaut involved in a conspiracy. I am not personally a doubter re: the US moon landing, but the story fascinates me. The story, that is, that would be, were the conspiracy theory true. One of the most iconic heros of all time would have to live with the guilt. He'd have to keep such a heavy, terrible secret: that this huge historical watershed was a cynical lie. As the basis of a song, it let me get at a feeling that I otherwise have a hard time describing, the feeling of dread and conviction at the same time. Of wanting to say it's going to be OK, when in fact it probably isn't. It's a feeling I have a lot. The hero knows the only way to make things better in the long run is to unleash this awful truth which is going to break everyone's heart.
Buzznet: Did you create this song with the intention of having it on the New Moon soundtrack? Was "Shooting The Moon" recorded at the same time that you recorded your songs on your upcoming album?Damian: It was recorded along with the songs on our new album, but it was a perfect fit for New Moon. Our record's already nearly an hour long, so we could afford it let this one go on to greener pastures. Which is no euphemism. The song is in such great company on this soundtrack that it's probably happier in its new home.

In Twilight we got to see some sexual tension between Bella and Edward. That’s something very enigmatic. Will that continue in the rest of the movies?
I don’t think there was sexual tension, nor do I think that that’s the focus of the movies. I don’t see it that way. I think it’s a stroy about what it means to commit to a feeling and to the person that you love. Above all, it’s about finding someone to love despite having to fight so many problems that might show up. What hooks you about the movie, I’m convinced about it, is that it talks about the fear of what can happen to you if you fall in love and give yourself away completely. Realising how far you can go for love, passion and being amazed by it. People identify with it more than you can imagine. To me it’s not even a story about vampires, but about feelings that we’ve all felt before. It talks about the fear of feeling those things. It’s a movie with so many meanings, that’s why I like it and I think that’s why people like it too.
Speaking of passion and music, we know you write songs. What can you share about it?
I’m trying to write some songs for the next movie. (Kerry: Squee?!?!) I don’t know if it will be possible because of my schedule, but I want to do it. Music is the other side of me, it’s one of the things that complete me and I wouldn’t want to leave it aside for anything in the world. I have the intention of evolving in that aspect. It’s something I want to develope just as much as acting. I want to have a balance between those two things.
We know you can’t say much about New Moon, but don’t leave before you tell us, did you have to go to some place dark to play this vampire again?
Yes, the truth is that the way I wanted to play Edward was less powerful. He’s a character that can’t change his condition, he didn’t choose his fate. He was unconscious when Carlisle turned him into a vampire. When he woke up, three days later, he realized that in order to survive he would have to kill people. Imagine what would you feel like if you knew you would never grow old and that you would live forever. And what’s worse, you didn’t look for it. You become a sort of Superman without even wanting to be that, you were just a 17 year old kid. You must feel a huge impotence and frustration. Instead of believing you’re hero, you’re a person who can’t find himself and doesn’t know who he is. Understanding that has been fundamental in understanding Edward. That very human side of him is what I love about him and I feel like I can relate to that. There’s something we all find hard to change and face about ourselves.

These photographs..very different from the typical Twilight promo shots we get of Kristen, but I think that maybe she relishes the chance to break from the Bella-image. Paired with the pictures is an interesting interview conducted by none other than actor-director-writer-everything Dennis Hopper. I couldn't pass up the chance to post this.
Here's a little bit of the article:
In the last 12 months, Stewart has become a tabloid regular and a blog-stalked cynosure. The fact that her Twilight character is romantically linked to Pattinson’s in the film has also fueled nonstop speculation that they are involved in real life. BUYING A HOUSE? and GETTING MARRIED? were just a couple of the early autumn headlines. Between filming Twilight sequels, Stewart did a turn as Joan Jett in Floria Sigismondi’s new rock-band biopic The Runaways; even her hair for the film—which was chopped and dyed to mimic Jett’s late-’70s shag—inspired reams of media critique.
HOPPER: Does it bother you to see yourself in the tabloids?
STEWART: There’s nothing you can do about it, to be honest. I don’t leave my hotel room—literally, I don’t. I don’t talk to anybody about my personal life, and maybe that perpetuates it, too. But it’s really important to own what you want to own and keep it to yourself. That said, the only way for me not to have somebody know where I went the night before is if I didn’t go out at all. So that’s what I’m trading. It depends what mood I’m in. Some nights, I think, “You know what? I don’t care. I’m just going to do what I want to do.” Then the next day I think, “Ugh.Now everyone thinks I’m going out to get the attention.” But it’s like, no, I actually, for a second, thought that maybe I could be like a normal person.
