Is Aro our Easter gift?

Wasn't it just the other day we were wondering why we aren't getting any official cast news from Summit? Well, again, we have casting news, and again, it's not from Summit.Michael Sheen has been cast as Aro...from Daily Mail

In New Moon, Sheen will play Aro, the leader of an Italian vampire clan called the Volturi.

Director Chris Weitz confirmed Sheen’s casting to The Mail on Sunday and said he had ‘aggressively’ pursued the actor.

‘Michael’s role is so important because he’s the head of all vampires,’ he said. ‘Aro is, on the surface, a very gracious and friendly vampire, but beneath that he is a tremendous threat.’

So what's your reaction? After looking at some pictures, I think this is probably a wonderful choice. I also love that he's 40, not 20. The only thing that bothers me is the amount the article says they're paying. That's a significant chunk of the budget if the budget is what has been rumored. However, let's keep in mind, if Rob was being paid what had been reported for this movie, he'd be walking around naked... So I'm taking all the salary talk with a grain of salt.

300th Post Potpourri

Is your Edward lonely? The Edward and Bella set is now available to pre-order at Hot Topic for $32.99. I know I already have an Edward, but this one has the Ray Bans... I am SO super stoked about this. Hubby and I were saying just a little while ago that we'd love to see a Twilight Scene It. It is available for pre-order here for $30.99. It's due out in October.

Lainey had some more set pics today. I love this one because you can really see how wonderfully his eyes stand out now.

So there are 3 things to celebrate my 300th post. Thanks to Twilight Lexicon for all the great info.
Just noticed this pic and wanted to say how much I love Edward's shoes here. I really hated the ones he wore in Twilight. Of course, the whole outfit is great. I am so looking forward to seeing what Chris Weitz has done with the look of all the characters.

1. New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
2. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
3. Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer
4. Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
And what do we have here, down at #14...
14. The Host by Stephenie Meyer
Congratulations, Stephenie! None of your readers are surprised. Thanks to His Golden Eyes.

Roving Golden Eyes

This is craziness! I can't decide the cool to creepy ratio here.

Thanks to TwiCrack.

Edward...even swoonier than before!

I know what you're thinking, that just could not be possible. But oh, it SO is. Feast your eyes on these beauties from the set today...

Thank you, Chris Weitz. You have somehow managed to make Edward even more beautiful. I didn't know it could be done. Now this is definitely the Edward of our dreams...

Thanks to TwiCrack for these. You can see even more here. And of course, there will be more pics on the blog when I'm had time to recover from seeing

I think this is probably a good time to explain my paparazzi policy. I do not post paparazzi pictures as a general rule. My exception is cases like these particular pics. No, not just ones that we really want to I do post pics from the set because these are working pics. As much as we all love to know what they're doing off set and see them, I do not post any pics that are taking of them during their personal time away from work. I would want some privacy, and I want to afford them the same when it comes to my blog. I am no way bashing or criticizing anyone else, I just wanted to state the policy here, which will also apply to my forum once I get it set up. The forum hosting service I was originally planning to use isn't working out so I'm back in the market.

And here are the more pics I promised...

Doesn't everyone just look fantastic? I can't wait to see the rest of the Cullens.

Thank You, Catherine

Twilight Lexicon has a post about the interview that Catherine Hardwicke gave to KTKA, an ABC affiliate in Texas. They also posted this gorgeous picture which I believe is the best of I've ever seen of Catherine.

My favorite quote from Twilight Lexicon's post...

What’s also clear again, is that fans owe Catherine a huge debt for insisting that the script was rewritten to be closer to the actual novel than the barely recognizable version that she was originally presented with. In our opinion, Catherine’s insistence on going back to the book is what is set this up as a viable mega-franchise and not just another teen flick flop.

And my favorite Catherine quote from the interview...

“I glad to be known for something, laughed Hardwicke, I think it’s great because I’ve developed a fun relationship with fans from all over the world, I’ve got to meet so many people that the film means so much too. I consider those people my friends and they will go on with their lives but they will always remember when the 'Twilight' movie came out.”

I've wanted to write a post about Catherine for a while and this just seemed like the perfect opportunity. I have to admit that I was not initially a big fan. I thought the movie was good, but there were several complaints that I had, and most of them I blamed on Catherine. After watching the movie with commentary, the dvd special features and reading her book, ninety-five percent of my issues were resolved or explained. I am now a HUGE Catherine fan and I couldn't agree more with the Lexicon's statement that we owe a lot to her. She gave us such a wonderful gift in Twilight. Especially after watching the awesome third disc special features that she put together, I am truly sad that she is not directing New Moon.

Let me say that while I am sad that she will not be at the helm of New Moon, I realize that it is still a gift from her as is every other "Twilight Saga" movie to follow. Catherine set the bar high when it comes to staying true to the books, to Stephenie and to us, the fans. She gave us these awesome actors to bring our beloved characters to life. I mean, she fought Summit to give us Rob as Edward! Can we ever say thank you enough for that? She saw that Edward wasn't so simple as a pretty face. She cast a true artist in the role who was able to bring to life a "real" Edward, not just the perfection that Bella saw in him, but the internal conflicts that defined him, that defined their very relationship. She gave us Kristen, who truly "gets" Bella and cares about the integrity of her story. And as we all know, had she not given us a movie that made money for the studio, New Moon would have never been given the green light.

So, Catherine, thanks for everything!

P.S. I am looking forward to what Chris Weitz is going to do with New Moon and I have total faith in him, along with Stephenie, to bring us another great installment.

Happy Birthday Kristen!

She is nineteen today, the second birthday she has spent filming a Twilight movie.

Tinsel Korey confirms her New Moon role

According to Twilighters Anonymous, Tinmsel Korey has confirmed that she will be playing Emily in New Moon. From her MySpace page...
She starts off 2009 landing the role of Emily Young in the Twilight Sequel “New Moon”; and is very excited to be working with such a talented cast and brilliant director.
I am glad to see this confirmed but I hate that we're not seeing it from Summit. This is the second role we've now seen confirmed by the actor rather than the studio. The wolf pack was confirmed via paparazzi pics before Summit came out with the information. I wonder if Summit thinks the rumors and speculation are better for the film than putting out the real information.

I think we've already seen that someone who may not seem right for a part in the beginning can absolutely blow you away. I still think its hilarious that 70,000 people signed a petition against Rob. I couldn't imagine anyone else as Edward. We've pushed the box office over 350 million and bought 6 million dvds. Many of us even own more than one version. Sp what do you think? Please Summit, throw us a bone and let us know who else has been cast in New Moon...

New Moon - Volterra v Montepulciano

New Moon Movie has posted more than 20 high res pics of Montepulciano . They are also asking how you think the pics of Montepulciano stack up against their earlier post of pictures of Volterra. Here are the two most similar pictures...

After looking at all the pictures, I think that both cities are breathtaking, but my heart belongs to Volterra. Blame it on Stephenie. So what do you think?

Thanks to Pillow Biters for the video.

Get your Art Art now

You can't be surprised I used a pun there. If you were, please refer back to the name of my blog.

The official How To Be online store is now up and running. As mentioned, they have art, posters, apparel, cards, stationary, pillows and so much more. And speaking of How To Be merchandise...
I received an email today from Dreamboat Records saying although the official release date of the cd is May 5, the pre ordered ones will "begin the process of shipping" on April 18. For details on how to order yours, a track listing and information on how you could possibly end up with Rob's autograph on yours, click here. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of mine.

Dossier Outtake & Question

Although I posted this as an update to my original post about the Dossier photos, I felt it warranted its own post, as it brings up a question... I'm guessing that the photo editors are the ones who generally choose which pics make it into the mag, right? So why do Dossier and GQ not have photo editors from the Rob fandom? LOL The outtakes from both are so much better than the pics they used. I'm not saying that the pics they chose were bad, they just weren't the best of the bunch. They would sell more mags if they put the extra ones in too, don't you think? I mean look at Vanity Fair...they could make a book of all the outtakes and they would sell like crazy. I think they would more than justify the extra expense of putting the additional pictures in by the number of additional copies they would sell. What do you think?

Also, on a slightly different note, was anyone else disappointed that Neil Patrick Harris had a much bigger photo spread in GQ than Rob? We would have enjoyed seeing Rob model various suits...or the rain coats for that matter!

More Scans from Japan

They all just looked so good over there! Japan must have agreed with them.

Thanks to TwiCrack for finding these. She found them on lion_lamb. They were scanned by neko_oni and posted in part one and part two. Big thanks to neko_oni for all her work sharing these.

Exhibit A

Just some evidence to back up my earlier post that Rob's international photos are among some of his best. These are from Mexico, October 2008. Anyone else missing the suspenders?
So much better than the mesh tank...
Thanks to ROBsessed for providing me with this ammunition.

Rob in Dossier Magazine

I considered whether or not to post these for a couple of reasons. First of all, they just aren't my fave Rob pics, and I was kind of surprised at the huge level of excitement they caused among Rob fans. (Please do not write hate mail or throw rocks. Thanks.) Also, I walk a fine line here between running a Twilight blog with some extra RPattz for good measure, and a Rob blog with extra Twilight. After the comment from Miley Cyrus, (note to Miley, speak for yourself), Twilight Lexicon had a poll on what kind of fan you are. I am definitely a fan of both Rob and Edward. Lauren coined the monikers Book Edward, Movie Edward and Rob. These are definitely three separate entities. But Rob himself is something of an enigma. There is more than one persona of Rob. and I can find something to appreciate about all of them.
I do like this one because I know Rob loves James Dean, and this one has that feel to it...
but I just can't get on board with the mesh tank.
So for my readers who enjoy this Rob, I post these for you.
Don't misunderstand me, I can appreciate this Rob, I just prefer the GQ Outtakes, Vanity Fair, and honestly, the candid shots when he's just being himself. For some reason, I also particularly like photos from Japan, Mexico and London. (Vanity Fair Italy has some great ones.) He just seems more comfortable in some of them.

Thanks to ROBsessed for the unmarked versions of these. Call me crazy, but all the pink stars just kind of took the tough factor down a few marks.

Update: A screen cap from ROBsessed. Now this one, I totally get.
And this one I get too. Even with the mesh tank. I think the people who choose which photos to use are just not thinking right.

What Jackson says is good for the soul

Twilight Examiner has a wonderful interview with Jackson Rathbone. Let me say that I was one of the skeptics about him playing Jasper, and even after my first viewing of the movie, was still pretty unsure, but that has changed drastically over the last few months. I have become a huge Jackson fan, and if I hadn't been before, this interview would have made me one. I think he is super talented and just seems like such a great guy. He talks New Moon, The Last Air Bender, 100 Monkeys and more. He also reveals there may be more behind that smile than meets the eye. The whole interview is a good read, but this is one of my favorite parts.

“Appreciate that everything in the world has lined up perfectly in order for you to exist . . . Take five minutes to yourself, and count everything little thing you have to be thankful for . . . it’s good for the soul. And, anytime you feel despondent, fake a smile for exactly one minute, and then you’ll laugh at how ridiculous it all is.”

Awesome, isn't he? Add to that his great dimples and how can you not adore him! Be sure to set your DVR's for tomorrow night's Criminal Minds which will guest start Jackson. I am certainly looking forward to it.
(Love the eyes... click to enlarge. How did they manage to cast actors with such gorgeous eyes in a movie where they were all going to be covered up with contact lenses? Must be some kind of cruel joke.)

New Moon Forks High

Twilight-Gossip got a guided tour of the New Moon Forks High exterior set.
Apparently New Moon Movie has already posted their theory that the green area will be used to create composite shots, but just for the record, I was thinking the same thing.

In a related note...Christian Serratos, Anna Kendrick, Justin Chon and Michael Welch were spotted arriving in Vancouver today. I don't know why, but this just makes me giddy. I suppose it's the high school reunion you'd actually want to go to.

Twilight in Ink

Cartoonize the World has added a fourth Twilight character with Ashley Greene as Alice. I think this is my favorite one so far. This is gorgeous, from How To Write Good...

I saw these at several different sites today, but just now got around to posting them. I found them together on TwiCrack.

Another DVD Release Party

The the lights! There were three more frames of quotes throughout the room...
The spread
The "Golden Onion" Centerpiece
Bite mark cupcakes, because those fang ones just won't do
Wish I could have been there! It looks like it was so awesome.
Because everyone loves the cupcakes so much, Joy has graciously sent me the details on how she made them. The cupcakes are made from a strawberry cake mix with a buttercream icing recipe from the back of the powdered sugar box. The pink icing is pureed strawberries mixed with powdered sugar to achieve the proper consistency. After she frosted the cupcakes, she piped the pink icing on in a frown shape and used a toothpick to draw indentations for the teeth. (Yes, these were done by my sister Joy, the same one who found the Twilight car. Isn't she awesome!)

Collectable Converse

I am constantly amazed by the wonderful artists in the world of Twilight fans. Sandira, an artist from London, has made these beautiful hand painted Converse Chucks. Aren't they cool?

These are all individually hand painted so no two pairs are alike. She is now taking orders by commission so you can choose your own quotes and artwork. You can even replace the traditional laces be replaced with black and white or red ribbon laces. Click here to email Sandira about getting a pair of these for your very own.

What line is Kristen looking forward to?

We all now that Taylor is looking forward to asking..."Does my being half naked bother you?" (I realize that he was saying this backward in interviews, but I'm sure he'll get straightened out.) But what about Kristen? I love this interview she gave The Sudbury Star. I have to admit that I'm not always thrilled with Kristen Stewart's behavior, but when it comes to Bella, she and I are usually in total agreement. (An exception is the "want a taste" deleted scene.) She seems to have a wonderful grasp for what this movie needs to convey and how much more depth is going to be required. Here are some excerpts from the article. I think my favorite is when she talks about Taylor and the line she is looking forward to...

"There's actually a lot more to work with. The second movie is much more quaint. The first one was about ultimate love and abandon, and that was good, but it's kind of one-note. This one's a different story."

"I can't wait to see Taylor's face when I tell him, 'It's him, it's always been him.'" (Just the quote alone gets me. I can't imagine seeing it on the big screen.)

"Over the course of these four movies Bella has to become a formidable partner because -- I'm not ruining it for anyone -- they end up together. In the first one, he's very much a man and she's very much a child, so she has to become a formidable partner. We're working on that."

This article is definitely worth the read. I think Kristen really "gets" Bella, and what more could we ask for! Thanks to New Moon Movie for finding this one.

SNL will be Robless...for now

Although I hadn't heard much about it, apparently the internet has been abuzz with the rumors that Rob will be hosting SNL. OK! Magazine talked to Lorne Michaels who said that they are all booked with hosts for this season and Rob is not among them. Would SNL be interested in Rob hosting? “Yeah, yeah, of course.” But, we he make a good host? "Don’t know," admits Lorne. "You never know.”

So what do you think? Would Rob make a good SNL host? The article authors are skeptical. Me? I think Rob is more comfortable in front of the camera as a character than he is as Rob, but the more of his work I am exposed to, the less likely I am to rule anything out.
